Ok ok, I don't want to argue whether he has the best chin out of any fighter. I'm not saying that he does. Maybe the Roy Nelsons/Mark Hunts of the world pip him to the post.

The point is that he has a very very solid chin. Its part of his success.

People once questioned whether Jones could take a punch. Now it is clear that he can - he has taken multiple big shots by Gustaffson and now Cormier. The punches never seem to even phase him, let alone rock him.

Jones has a quality chin, no one can argue that he doesn't...and because he is hittable, with all his talent that is part of the reason for his success.

It's definitely solid. The only chinny fighter to be a long standing champ was GSP, and I have a feeling his chin wasn't that bad. Chin really means a lot at the highest level.

Has he ever taken a clean, hard, solid shot?

I'm not saying he doesn't have a great chin (he might), but I don't think we know yet because he's never taken a clean, hard, solid shot that I can remember. And that's a testament to his ability to use his reach/gauge distance and otherwise have a tight defensive game.

He has a very solid chin and he recovers well after a shot. He's fighting more on the inside lately, and his chin has still been holding up despite good shots from Glover and Cormier.

He wasn't dipping and moving his head away from those uppercuts (while DC held his head in place with his other hand), nor many of Gustaffson's shots, as evidenced by his swollen face.

Did you miss the absolute mauling he took from Gus? He ate numerous hard shots along the way and a very large accumulated total.

The chin on Jones is legit.

GSP wasn't chinny. He was stopped by Serra after getting hit in the temple and taking multiple follow up shots, after which he tapped to strikes, wasn't out cold.

He took bombs from Hendricks and survived. I don't think you can call him chinny at all. He has an excellent chin.

Very good chin, I'd say. Gustafsson has shown a sturdy chin as well and I actually think Phil Davis has a strong chin, too. Really, the best chins are at heavyweight because that is where they are really tested.

Yes I'd say so. He hasn't even been wobbled. The only thing that even was close to to it was him retreating after getting hit but he hasn't truly been dropped of had his eyes rolled back.

Yea that's why I said I suspect he isn't chinny. People questioned his chin after the Serra loss (Serra isn't really a power puncher) but he did well afterwards. Condit and Hendricks landed some bombs.

I dont know if its the best but it is damn good right now. The real question is, when he finally takes that shot that turns his lights out, how will he bounce back? Roy Nelson's chin is still the best in the game despite the Hunt and Arlovski Kos

I can't see how anyone can really think this.... I mean yes his chin is solid, but apart of his success?

No one other than Gustufsson and Cormier have really hit him enough to claim it's the reason why he's successful.

Those uppercuts are from the clinch with a dude a foot taller than you.

Everything gus threw was slightly blocked or Jones already moved his head.

Rashad was the only one to land a clean shot

I said it is a "part" of his success. Not the "reason for" his success. There is a difference.

Were his chin not so good, he may no longer be champion (Gustaffson or DC may have beaten him). Hence he would not have been as successful. So it is a "part" of the reason for his success. Its not like Jones is never hit.

A good chin for LHW standards, but JDS has the best chin overall.
