A month out from UFC 197, Jones weighed 220 lbs. After his fight against OSP, he attributed poor endurance to having too much muscle and doing too much powerlifting. Keep in mind, he was also cycling PEDs at this time.

If Jones thinks he had poor endurance at 220 lbs, it begs the question of why he thinks bulking up to 275 lbs is a smart decision.

Yep the biggest he's ever been this won't end well he's not a true HW

That’s the funniest part of Jones becoming obese and somehow thinking it will help him against Francis, he already learned this lesson before

I think Jon just enjoys lifting and eating, and deluded himself into believing that lifestyle will help him win

The man hired Stan Efferding to bulk him up lmao

No, he looked like a stud at 230 lbs. He diets and avoids weightlifting to fight at LHW

Looking like a "stud" doesn't equate to good performance in the octagon, also that photo is with really good lighting and a pump

On the left Jon is lean, on the right Jon has no or very little more muscle than he does on the left... he is just fatter, and holding a lot more water

That literally shows Arlovski having broader shoulders and thicker limbs. Also carries more weight in the abdomen
Lmao... denial denial denial. Guys a HW lol

I was under the impression that low 220's was his usual fight weight, and against OSP he was supposedly heavier, but no idea how much, im not saying he did or didnt perform poorly because of it, more like asking how heavy was he actually for that fight, 230?

He is just as tall and might not be that different frame wise from the HW's, but Arlovski isnt a huge HW, we need a picture next to Francis, jones is famous for his skinny legs.

We can't discount the possibility of him just using that as an excuse that had nothing to do with his passive performance. The Jones that fought OSP is the Jones we saw vs Reyes, Smith and Gus 2 - more safe, passive approach. A style he eventually embraced, but back then when people expected fireworks from his return - he must've thought it would be better to say you went too far doing something awesome like bodybuilding than to say "I didn't wanna take any risks against a short notice replacement".

And this opposing argument is supported by him declining Chael on a week's notice, when he could probably slice and dice Chael with little to no sleep after a night of drinking and partying. But he just plays things safe.

This. Bulking is fun, adding weight to bar is fun, eating more is fun, getting bigger is fun.

But will it help him against the likes of Francis/Gane? Probably not given Jones's display against OSP (he won but he looked like crap).

He weighed 240 in the pic I posted and looked shredded and healthy. By comparison, Stipe weighed 230 in his last fight.

Jones 2.55 is sporting a layer of fat to protect his abs.
