From his WWE SummerSlam PPV hosting gig this weekend to moderating a Dem Party debate...

Too opinionated really to be good in the role.

I'd much rather see him moderate a GOP debate.

FOX comedians moderated the republican debate. What's the issue?

It would certainly get more people to watch. I bet he'd throw in a few quirky lines as well.

I don't care who moderates as long as they don't ask gotcha questions and make the candidates answer the question that was asked.
That was the frustrating part of the GOP debate, because we get "Would you go to a gay wedding and the abortion question.
The abortion question is a waste at the GOP since all but Pataki is pro life. They only differ on rape, life saving and incest abortions.

So an extended interview with Hillary Clinton? Doesn't seem so bad.

He's clearly a pretty Liberal guy, which I am not, but what I like about guys like Maher and Stewart is that they're just as quick to jump on other Liberals for doing and saying stupid things as they are to conservatives and I have no doubt he will as very difficult questions of every candidate the way Foxnews did in the Republican debate.

While most of you are mocking this, it would not happen for the simple fact that he would be too harsh on the Dems. He calls out dems fairly often for a lot of their double standards, and lack of follow through. This becomes doubly true when you realize he no longer has to play nice to get people back on his show.

If he had a new show (or book or movie) coming out, I could see him doing it.

Without his 12+ Daily Show writers propping him up tho...

I'll take Jon stewart over Brit Hume, Megyn Kelly, Chris Matthews any day.

Stewart pokes as much fun at Dems as he does repubs.

Those getting all rustled over this have never seen his show.

Nope. Can't have a debate where most people would watch more for the moderator than the candidates.

    It really wasn't.

I would absolutely love him as a moderator. He wouldn't let the politicians lie without confronting them, and he has the reservoir of knowledge at his fingertips to do it. Charlie Rose is another journalist I think would shine as a moderator (for either party). I don't understand why the perception of a moderator's political leanings should factor into our consideration of their qualifications for the job, btw. The fact the Fox editorial staff moderated the GOP debate was another huge step forwards in dividing this country along partisan lines: another huge, terrible step forward. This is one of the most serious issues crippling our capital's ability to effectively govern our country. We're dividing into "camps". The DNC and the RNC need to be reined in.

Only if we get Colbert for GOP debates.
