The sad thing is that he is probably right when he says that Cormier is probably in the top 3 in the division. So what is the UFC going to do with Jones now? Besides Anthony Johnson and Alexander Gustafson, who can they match him up with? Seems like there is going to be a lot of repeat challengers for the light heavyweight title for a while.

When the time comes (don't wait too long!) it'll be interesting. I think with a different gameplan based on the experience of having fought Jones now Cormier might be able to pull it off... he was clearly suprised how Jones was able to neutralize him wrestling wise in the clinch, & it'll be interesting to see how he might try and work something around that...

By that time, I'd venture Jones will have improved while Cormier will have declined.

I never want to see DC get another shot at the title as long as Jones has it. He's got nothing for him. Didn't win the stand up, couldn't take him down, couldn't prevent Jones from taking him down, gassed after the 3rd round.....and he's fuckin old.

I don't see why not, despite losing he still gave Jones a good fight.

2 of the rounds Jones won were pretty close too.

.... & what if DC doesn't gas so bad next time? what then? :icon_twis

I think he took Cormier's will dude. He won't fight Cormier again, not at his age.

It sucks, but the poor guy will have to end it like that. He's not going to be able to beat Jones. At 36, it's too late to be adding to his game.

I don't think anyone at HW will be able to replicate what Jones did to Cormier. I think Cormier will get another shot in not long and Jones will lay another whooping. Cormier is the Chad Mendes of LHW.

Let's hope there's no rematch, it wouldn't be any different. Jones really has to move up to HW for a challenge if he beats Gus/Rumble.

He doesn't need to add anything, just take out some things. Cormier said he was surprised how heavy Jones felt against the cage. Just don't go there next time. Gassing out clinching with Jones against the cage lost him this fight.

Yeah. I think the mental game is where Jon beat Cormier. When Cormier couldn't throw Jon around he started to doubt himself.

Jon never did doubt himself. I'm sure Cormier is capable of a better performance, but I don't think he wants to put himself through it again.

Jones will fight gus/rumble winner. Cormier will be maybe 37 if he did it again. Jones would be entering his prime at 28.

Cormier is no doubt a badass, but Jackson's camp is very good. I don't like the guys over there, or the camp at all really, but figured out the perfect plan
