News Jon Jones Releases First "OFFICIAL" Statement Post-Retirement Announcement

Jones will end up losing to Jake Paul in boxing. People here are going to get soooo mad.

It's a very real possibility. VERY REAL.

Even though Jake's ability to pull numbers is waning, there might be JUST ENOUGH gas left in the tank to make that fight happen.

Jones will absolutely do it for a 20 mil check.

Isn't he in some new legal trouble?
Sayonara Jon, never come back

I don't think he will do it.

Would have to be an MMA fight. Not a boxing match.

Did he leave on top?

The problem is how he left.

He should have retired and never went to HW, then he would retired on top.
No.
He could have gone up and picked up a win or two.

He got heat for winning, holding the belt, and refusing to fight Tom.

GOAT LHW career "ruined" by not fighting top heavyweight contender.

All the crying in all of sherdog threads isn't gonna stop him from being ranked in the top 3 all time greats, and very likely number 1, by any legitimate ranking.

I get that people dont like him and wanted him to lose. But all the inane caterwauling isn't gonna change the reality.

Finally we can move on in the HW division. That's good.

As for his retirement. You were the best of your weight class at LHW. No question about that. Love your creativity in the cage. Wish you the best in your retirement.

People love Khabib. People hate Jone for leaving on top of a career full of unprecedented cheating and privilege.

Khabib is hard not to like. Jones is impossible to like.

That said, jones the shithead has a resume that's 10x stronger than Khabibs.

Nurmagomedov was awesome to watch and was a great foil to the outright megalomania that was Conor at the time, whereas Jones is himself a level of self oriented shitty behavior like Conor.

As another poster stated, aptly, conor is egomaniac whereas Jones is pathological narcissism, but both of tbem are selfish and destructive whereas khabib represented family and restraint.

It's less impressive when you consider that he cheated so much they changed the rules and invented fake science to accommodate him.

Oh, for sure. Pushed every envelope there was - knee teeps, eyepokes, steroids.

When even that wasn't enough, he started cheating the whole concept of the sport of mma by log jamming the whole fucking hw division for no reason, ostensibly, other than just attention seeking.

Hes a grade a piece of dogshit, no doubt.

Lets move on with the heavyweight division!

Fighting wise and ducking -Khabib did not have any drama and stalling. He just made decision and retired after the fight.

Also Conor despite getting crazy by the end, he really was not afraid to fight anyone, was not calculated, never played it safe in that regard, took a lot of risk.

Undoubtedly a GOAT, but this is a HUGE asterik on his entire HW run.

Earlier this evening, as a side note on the UFC Baku post fight presser, Dana answered a question and told the world I had retired.

And this is exactly how I wanted it to be announced.

That is like saying the last 5-7 years of Lebron's career is "Weak stuff" You have to look at all of it.. Jones owns all the records and this is coming from a huge GSP fan.. Who's coming in and winning the belt at age 23 and just laying waste to 1 HOF fighter after another? He could have quit at 27 and had a GOAT case.. In fact the Jon Anik's of the world called him the GOAT at age 27..
He ran through people much older than him at the end of their careers, he then cherry picked the shit out of people and avoided fights in that same period of his fighting career.

He’s a selfish jerk.

It's crazy to me that antone thinks this is almost over. It's only just started. When your name is in goat talks everything you do is put under a microscope.

People will be talking about how Jones shamefully ducked like this on his way out for at least the next 20 years. You're going to see it brought up every single time there's a goat conversation and argued for 100 pages.

Just like Anderson's ped busts and losing to Weidman 2x, or gsp losing to Serra, Fedors losing streak etc. This is a HUGE black mark on his career that will come up every time his accomplishments are discussed.
That's a good point. But you also hear defenses for it as well. Silva was retirement age when he lost to Weidman and those losses had skeptics. GSP loss was explained he was too green or it was a lucky punch. They say Fedor fell out of his prime and was not the same guy any more.

I dunno, feel like most will say Jones was at a 2nd weightclass, which is one of the biggest jumps and didn't want to fight a prime guy. He also has some mileage and it's the biggest weight jump. Kind of crazy how now all 4 goats are done fighting.

UFC website still has Jon listed as the champ. Are we going to see some wrestlemania type shit where Jones walks out drunk with the belt to fight Tom.

Nah. Jones will end up beating Ngannou in an absolutely terrible boxing match where Jones sporadically jabs Ngannou lightly in the face while Ngannou keeps ineffectively punching Jones's guard for however many rounds the fight is booked for. Everyone in the sparse crowd will fall asleep, and Jones will win a decision in one of the most boring fights ever. The dozen or so people who buy the PPV will be disappointed that Ngannou doesn't kill Jones.
