This is something that has bothered me over the years and I credit Jone for being so strong in this area as he constantly pushes forward to control the pace of the fight and ensure his opponent is reacting instead of initiating. But FFS why do all of his opponents fall into this trance?? The guys that have had the most success are the ones that pushed back or stood their ground and when they stopped doing that he took over e.g. DC and Gus. What exactly is it that causes everyone to change their gameplan and become reactionary to the champ instead of pushing their skills on him? Or standing their ground and not allowing him to hold his range etc. It is extremely frustrating to watch as it seems everyone he fights folds into that mentality and is forced to work from there. My question is, why do they all do it??? What exactly has JJ shown over the years that would cause this panic and fear that so many fighters have to meet him in the middle and hold their ground? I personally feel that is where he gets beaten. DC was the only one that didn't back peddle and cycle away constantly he did sometimes but not that whole damn fight.
