Arthur Jones says that Jon Jones makes more than Arthur, a defensive end for the Ravens, and Chandler Jones (a defensive end for the Patriots) combined.

After a fan tweeted Arthur about needing to hook Jon up with a better agent so he could make the kind of money Arthur and brother Chandler (a defensive end for the New England Patriots) pull in, Arthur tweeted back the following:

    Norms @supernorms
@Artj97 haha you make $2 million dollar base salary. Hook up @JonnyBones with your agent or with @RosenhausSports. @Chan95Jones @malkikawa

    Arthur Jones ✔ @Artj97
    @supernorms @JonnyBones @RosenhausSports @Chan95Jones @malkikawa I'm telling you he makes more then me and @Chan95Jones together.

Arthur has a one year contract with a base pay of $2,023,000 while Chandler has a four year deal worth a total of $8,172,552 ($7,421,215 guaranteed). $4,384,000 is a signing bonus and they have his base pay structured out so that he only makes $761,522 in base pay this year -- not exactly a bad thing given the large signing bonus.

The idea that Jones makes as much as them might seem slightly hard to believe but when you factor in sponsorships (even if people tend to think fighters make more from sponsor deals than is reality) and base pay plus the always hard to pin down undisclosed bonuses, it's shouldn't really be that far fetched that he's making $4,000,000 a year ($2mil a fight the past two years).

It's a different sport with a different pay structure, and Malki Kawa is not Al Haymon on Malki's best day and Al's worst, but if Andre Berto can pull $1,650,000 against Guerrero on HBO, one would hope that the best fighter in the UFC can compete with that on top drawing PPVs.

Jones gets a PPV % for sure and I'm sure sponsorships by Gatorade and Nike are nothing to thumb your nose at. He has his own god damn shoe.

Three brothers raking in huge dollars. :D

Parents must be proud regardless of who gets paid more.

Not surprised in the least, especially given how active a fighter Jon is

Although if Jon wants his career to last he should probably cut down to fighting twice a year like most of the champs - he's getting pretty banged up already

THe difference is Jones got punched in the head by a heavyweight for 5 rounds and went life and death.

Jones lost a part of him last weekend.

Chandler might be making 8-10 million a year after his rookie contract is up, however.

Theyre probably still on their rookie contract. Regardless, Jon should be making more based on his status in the promotion. The brothers in the NFL are relative unknowns unless you are a football fan or a fan of their respective teams.

I'm British and don't follow American Football at all. Are the brothers any good?

He DESERVES every bit of it imo, especially after nights like Saturday. MMA is one brutal sport. These guys are true modern day gladiators.

No, he isn't. He suffered superficial damage against Gus and a broken toe and elbow before that.

    That's not "banged up".

In reality he's avoided any significant damage and hasn't been hit much.

He's the opposite of getting pretty banged up.

Jones has to face long term chronic pain and injuries though. and a scar on his face from Gus forever. Though, his brother face brain trauma as well. Not sure what the better deal is.

I would think that was pretty obvious. Overeem makes over 2m per fight and Jones is a champ and top 2 draw in the UFC.

Factor in the sponsors, one of which is nike and the fact that Jones fights 3-4 times per year it isn't unreasonable to think he makes a hell of a lot more than both his brothers.

I give you the Gus fight, and the toe injury. Outside of that, he was punched by Machida once, but has obliterated everyone else.

You act as though football players don't face chronic pain and injuries. Many of them die of "natural causes" before they're 65.

Shades of Meldrick Taylor after Chavez and Loiseau after Franklin.

He will carry some of those cuts and facial reconstruction for the rest of his life.

As will I for getting a scar as a kid.

    Doesn't make me "banged up".
