I think he won the fight before, this last one he lost. First three rounds he did nothing. 4 was Jones and he can have 5 too (that one was very even, I don't have a problem with any of them getting that round), still lost in my eyes.
That’s odd when I check Wikipedia it shows Jon Jones has a 17 fight winning streak. Also when I check Wikipedia’s definition of denial it details the mindset of many MMA fans in the first paragraph.
Just because a fight was close doesn't mean he lost. I wanted Reyes to win but honestly can't deny the fact that Reyes didn't exactly PUT HIM AWAY. I want to see someone KO Jones or Submit him. If not, then I wouldn't consider him actually being beat. Just like when Jones decisioned DC, it was meh. But after the rematch and he KO'd him is what made it definitive.
Jones vs Santos was closer than this one. Jones did more damage and won rounds 2, 4 and 5 vs Reyes. Also constant forward pressure from Jones, made Reyes miss a LOT + the challenger has to put in some extra effort to really validate him becoming champ, imo. It's not a scoring criteria but it's an unspoken rule and you all know it.
I mean, it's fair all things considering. I judge my own fights, I have no respect for their opinions. Reyes beat Jon Jones Jones is a paper champ. Wins, titles, all that is noise imo. We all know what happened last night
