Anyone else find this hard to believe? A guy that good and he's basically saying he only trains when he's in camp training for a specific opponent.

Here's the rest of the quote.

BJ Penn didn't either right? BJ would blow up like a balloon, then he'd get mad at people like GSP that were disciplined enough to train while they were off. It's amazing how far talent/gifts will carry someone. There probably is some benefit to it, some basketball players are on record saying they were exempt from practice (Gary Payton being one). It does cause less wear and tear on your body in the long run.

He's at such a high level that he doesn't need to..

He just needs to get into fight shape and get the game plan down...

Then he gets in there and does what God put him on earth to do, and that is pummel grown ass men with his fists and feet for money..

Praise Jones, he is truly a level above mere mortals..

He is realizing that he's no longer young and the closer you get to 30, and past that, you have to work harder to maintain that explosiveness that comes naturally to the young.
I guess we'll see how focused he really is if he gets back in the gym or relaxes after the win.
One thing that has been a not so well kept secret of Floyd Mayweather is that he trains year round, lives in Vegas, and schedules his life like he's going to fight at any moment.
So even when he takes these retirements he's always ready to come back and get right back to work.

Its true, he even commented on how he gets fat and a gut between camps. Jones will now be a full time fighter and stay in New Mexico to train between fights. That is a scary though for MMA.

He may not stay fit in between fights, like GSP did, but he definitely tranes UFC.

It's not like Gus, DC or Rumble stays in shape between fights...

I don't think he ever trains. I think he just watches youtube fights and kung fu movies on a treadmill and walks into the cage on fight night.

If you've seen the pictures of him when he's not training for a fight, you'd believe it. He's very athletic so he can pick up things faster than the average fighter & its smart to not go through a ton of training wars just to stay in shape & sharp. Guys that train hard all the time get injured frequently like Cain.

Hope he doesn't over train though. Don't want Jones getting Cain'd.
