After several failed attempts at explaining the details of Jon Jones' extreme physical advantages, i realise that most of Sherdog has never attended a physics lesson or the likes, so it is probably pointless to actually explain to you what went down, again.

So let me try to reach you in another way:

Please just take note of what DC actually said.

In the interview with Ariel Helwani post fight, and the post fight presser, DC says Jon Jones felt big.

Please also do yourselves a favor and rewatch the main event of 182, and look specifically for techniques by Jon Jones.

You will find very little evidence of any advanced technique, or displays of skill, if any.

What you will see is a huge genetic freak putting his hands around a relatively tiny guy.

Cormier actually did surprisingly well against Jones, much better than i anticipated.

Cormier had no issues ragdolling much heavier, and stronger guys.
This is precisely because weight and strength, is not anywhere near as big an advantage as rediculous leverage and torque, especially when it comes to clinch positions and wrestling in general.

Contrary to what most people believe, and what may seem intuitive Jon Jones' physique is actually most effective in the clinch, not in striking. (it is still an extreme advantage in the striking department too, obviously)

Fighting downhill is an advantage everywhere, but in the clinch is where it starts to get rediculous.

Holding an underhook on Jon Jones if you are DC, means you are standing up straight, while Jon Jones' overhooks grants him a much deeper driving position.

You also can't grab his legs to counter.

He can also connect his hands in even the widest of sprawls, where everyone else can't grab more than a single at best.

And so on and so on..

It matters, to seperate the question of skill and physique

Sonnen said the same thing (after their fight) ..that JJ felt much bigger than expected when they fought.

So Stefan Struve just doesn't realize his potential yet?

As soon as he does he will become the goat?

I don't think that's an accurate summary. To me it read more like: Butthurt butthurt butthurt.

First retard steps in, takes 1 sentence out of context and that somehow refutes my post.

Jon Jones has skills, but they are hard to judge when he is also monsters everybody he faces physically.

Take 5" off his reach and 2" off his height, put 3" of reach and 1" of height on DC, and then see what happens.

If he beats him then, then we can call it skill.

But the reality is that all we know so far, is that the size disparity is too great to even open the skill discussion.

The only fight i give Jon Jones props for is his victory over Gustafsson

I instead did myself the disfavour of reading your post. Found very little evidence of any advanced intelligence.

Lol Jones size doesn't matter! He cuts to 205 for each fight. Comes in there and beats people up. This is the fight game. All is fair.

The majority of freestyle wrestling medallists are under 6 feet. If we add 3 inches of height to Cormier there is a solid chance his wrestling skills diminish.

Jon won the close battle in spite of his reach. Not because of it.

Struve was never a good fighter.

Infact Struve is a perfect example speaking FOR my side, not against it.

Struve is only in the UFC because of his physique, basically

Please point to any point in the fight where Jon Jones took Cormier down, or controlled him in the clinch, through technique, and not physicality.

    You can't.

You can live in a world of hypotheticals if that makes you feel better, but just know that this is impossible and will never, ever, ever happen.

The bottom line is....Jon Jones is the best LHW we've ever seen. Until someone comes along that can nullify his physical, skill, intelligence, and heart advantages, then he will remain champion. Droning on about how "If you took 5 inches off his reach then blah blah blah" is about as pointless as P4P discussion(see: Chael's opinion on that for better reference).

This thread again? This thread again. No, this fucking thread again.

Jones makes weight, so he fights at 205. Each body type has its advantages and disadvantages, and he's making the most of his. That's not unfair. Come back when Jones misses weight or Struve wins the HW belt.

Yet Jones wasn't some manner of supreme wrestling beast outside of MMA, nor do most successful wrestlers have a physique anything like his.

If a lanky frame was such an enormous advantage, you'd expect to see most, or even some, top wrestlers built like that. They aren't, not anything like it.

That would be all of them.
