yeah but what i'm saying is, is they'd be compensating him for a crime THEY did. we all like to blame Jon, even me, but this is mostly on the UFC. at ANY time the UFC could've stripped Jon but they never did. they're not going to pay Tom for something they purposely did to him. they didn't pay Mark Hunt even though we all know they purposely allowed Brock Lesnar to come in juiced out of his mind.

I saw an interview with Dana saying the fight would happen, and he couldnt remember Toms name.

Jones/UFC need to milk this as much as possible

Difference is they were done with Hunt. The only chance the UFC HW division has of being compelling for the next few years is to make Aspinall a star. Tyson became a star by knocking out overmatched dudes (past their prime, not all that good, or blown up cruiserweights). No reason they can't have their own version of that. If Aspinall knocks out enough dudes in a row, eventually fans won't care AT ALL who he's fighting. He will be the draw.

I think it'll be a "halfway" type deal probably. They won't back the truck up, no. But they'll get him a big ass backroom "good faith" bonus that makes him partially whole. And keeps him happy and not looking to pull a Ngannou if he does happen to blow up and become what they need him to be.

its not a theory. go back to all the interviews 6 months + ago. he said the tom fight was extremely unlikely. said its likely his last fight and hes no duck but he wants to pick the right opponent because out of everyone in the sport hes earned that right hes fighting well past his prime at this point he also said he has no problem vacating. the ufc tried to force the fight. push the duck narrative. jon said alright .. disrespect me? and now we are here when if dana and co listened both tom and jon would have had a fight already. its just been very clear since day one. danas ego got in the way here. not jons fault. partially toms fault for not fighting the ufc on getting a different fight.

WTF do you mean they "both would have had a fight"? Jones was free to vacate anytime to pursue more "legacy" fights or whoever he wanted to fight. Ditch the belt and fight Randy Couture or Tim Sylvia or fucking Royce Gracie for all anyone cares. But he hasn't vacated, and there's an interim champ that already defended once. There weren't gonna be two more separate fights featuring these two unless Jones vacated. Wasn't gonna happen. And he hasn't yet either.

Yes maybe blame the UFC for not being decisive and letting this drag on. But Jones wasn't ever gonna be allowed to defend vs another guy not named Aspinall (barring injury).

Nothing outside not being offered one LOL. He (and his father and his camp) have publicly said they'll fight someone else. The UFC wants Jones/Aspinall to unify so they are having Tom wait.
