Jon Fitch: MMA has been shrinking since 2008 due to monopoly of UFC....

This is the second half of his long interview. After his personal life, he talks about MMA and UFC.

He says that " fastest growing sport" is a tagline and UFC is growing but MMA has died down since the end of 2000s. No pride fights, local fights don't generate interest and fighters being treated like pimps and hoes by Dana sets a bad example that its ok for fans to talk shit which leads to a smaller talent pool.

Overall he implies that although Pride might do sneaky shit with fighters, they had deep respect with fighters in public which led to them being looked upon in a more dignified manner in the eyes of fans while today, a fighter is like a dancing monkey and if promoter can shit talk them then why not fans?

38:30:

This segment of the interview was much better and optimistic than the first half.

EDIT:

Also he mentions that the UFC tells fighters what to say and not to say ( I can confirm because I have talked to Riggs and he said the same thing} and the Reebok uniform takes fighters individuality away and it doesn't allow them to be expressive. It feels like communism.

Might feel like communism to you because you don't know what it is. In reality, this is capitalism.

This is 100% the truth. Guys like Conor, love him or hate him, came along and showed him very very wrong he was. Fitch is a tough SOB but tough isn't enough.
When he fought young as fuck prospect Erick Silva that guy gave him a real fight and you saw what Fitch was capable of when forced to actually fight. That was a good one.

That's exactly what he is doing lol which is so ironic because he has Fedor supremist written under his avatar, someone with integrity who has always maintained the same opinion as Fitch about Dana and the ufc disrespecting fighters.

I got nothing against HHJ but just look at him all invested, posting multiple times coming off as a ufc Shill defending the indefensible lol

Going as far as reaching to come up with some reaaaaally weak ass counter arguments citing prides Mis treatment of fighters. Pride EVEN PAID their fighters better then the ufc. I'd say that's the ultimate sign of respect (no pun intended lol). It's Weird because usually he has good posts, but I guess this thread touched his"ufc emotional chord" lol

Yes Fitch is an idiot, he didn't know how to convey his argument well (he got the time period wrong), but the reality is the ufc has always tried to corner the market with a Virtual monopoly over the sport, back when it was owned by the fertittas and even moreso now that they are owned by one of the biggest companies in the world, and are in bed with the elite Arab shieks. One of the reasons the elite spread this plandemic was so that the big companies could come in a eat up the smaller ones in various industries while the others ones are forced to close down due to bankruptcy. Same thing happened with the banks (jp Morgan and chase) after 9/11. Do your research kids (itt). If you support the ufc's unethical business practices that have helped them get this far, then you support the new world order/agenda 21 shit... Just look at the conditioning they do to the masses. What a crying shame.
I'm not defending the UFC so much as I'm saying that the past is not as rosy as you are all making it out to be just because the injustices arent on youtube In HD

Whether the sport has grown or shrunk is debatable. What is not debatable is how the UFC has done a TON to centralize the sport around their own brand. The UFC has bought out most of the competition. Other promotions, they brought under the Fight Pass umbrella to make those promotions dependent on the UFC for broadcast money, and the UFC now owns their fight library in perpetuity. The UFC has ensured their own growth and survival through growth and integration, but that doesn’t necessarily reflect on the sport as a whole

Notice how that all revolves around UFC, though. Not the sport itself.

All you did was attack the guy. You provided zero counterpoints.

The fact you just referred to UFC as a sport is a huge problem.

Definitely, and COVID made it even worse this year.
Why?

Another has-been equating the decline of his own relevance with that of the medium he performed in

Fitch, along with most people in this thread, have a short sited and US only based view of MMA.

MMA has globally grown every year by leaps and bounds. And I don't even know what to say to someone who can acknowledge that the UFC is now on ESPN but in the same breath basically claim it was doing better on Spike, FX, Fox, Fox Sports1, Fox Sports 2 and showing prelims on facebook.

People were saying that 10 yrs ago,and i didnt listen to their autistic shrieking then either.

But you did listen to it 10 years ago or you wouldn't have just referenced it.

Okay, Jon Fitch is just being straight up delusional moron on this one.

The UFC is actually funding massive efforts to expand the sport on a global scale.

One such effort they are funding is the IMMAF. The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) was founded on 29 February 2012 as the international governing body for amateur Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). The goel of this orgainization with the aide of the UFC is to make MMA an Olympic sport.

The UFC is also funding concerted effort to build the sport in China by building a Performance Institute in China that is actively recruiting and training HUNDREDS of MMA fighters in the country to not only increase the overall skill level of fighters in China but create a large number of Chinese stars to fuel popularity.

In addition to this the Performance Institute is creating a program in which they visit various MMA gyms across the country in which they provide them resources and instruction that will them to better train people in MMA.

The UFC also has plans to create performance institutes to help grow the sport of MMA by recruiting and training HUNDREDS of MMA fighters in key markets around the world.

The UFC also funds and supports Invicta FC and all female promotion the has become crucial to the growth WMMA within the sport.

Not to mention the UFC is actually paying smaller regional promotions across the globe substantial money to put on shows that that are broadcast on their UFC fight pass streaming service.

Granted, they aren't doing this out of the kindness of hearts.... the UFC is trying to make the sport popular in order to make more money but claiming that the UFC is causing MMA to shrink is a LIE.
none of that helps the sport more than them having honest competition and top fighters having a choice in organizations that could compete financially for their services

Fitch is boring af but he's justified hating the ufc. He got cut for refusing to sign over his likeness then Lorenzo Corleone convinced him to sign it over and resigned then they got him beat a couple times and cut his ass again. Thats a tad unethical imo

He wouldn't be saying this is he was given the Forrest, Chuck and Matt Hughes treatment...

Those people werent just GIVEN that treatment. They earned it,by being model employees, fighting often, and doing business the right way. They could be counted upon.

Fitch was openly critical of the UFC,and at some point,he definitley gave up on trying to work with them in any capacity. After beating Erick Silva in Brazil in his post fight,he acted like had no desire to be there and said so. What are they supposed to do with a guy like that?? Push him to the moon?

Matt Hughes,Chuck, they could have easily left and went to PRIDE,and because they didnt, they helped UFC get through some tough times with their loyalty. Plus we know Forrest actually put in alot of work in the role they gave him which is why he is still doing it till this day. Daniel Cormier is another example of a guy who knew how to deal with them and make a great working relationship. They didnt just see DC and say "hey lets give him stuff"
He knows how to do business.

Because fans love watching mma no matter who is providing it.....

A very small % of die hards maybe. To most fans having two top flight orgs competing at the highest level is much more ideal than one company sitting alone at the top
