But Yes. That should be the fight to make, but Ali knows Justin would be graple-fucked.
The hooker fight was his ticket as hooker will Never be this high on the rankings again.
I think they're trying to make a paddy-Justin fight.
And even With a win Justin could be passed up. Theres always the chance of Islam coming back or Arman actually fighting and keeping his spot as number one contender

He's not a top contender but he is solidly top 10.
JG is not in the same realm of talent as your Arman, Do Bronx and Topuria. He's not even in the same band as Max who is undersized for the division.
He eeked past #10 Fiziev on short notice, who was out classing JG when they were both fresh. I think that appropriately paints the picture where he's at - he can beat a fringe top 10 guy in a close fight, but will get soundly beaten by the truly elite, almost every time.

Part of me can't wait for the old LWs to retire. Gaethje has had plenty of title shots, he had another but put it at risk at 300 and lost bad. Fighters in the top 5 think they can just 1 win and sit until they get a title shot, stupid.

Of course when you look at it from a realistic point.....topuria and oliveira make a better case (now that Islam is gone). Justin already lost to Charles and Justin got ktfo by Holloway while Topuria ktfo Holloway.
But Gaethje has never stepped away from a challenge or request. Has always delivered entertaining fights and was a good employee. He couldnt foresee that both Islam and Topuria would move up. He has to wait now and see how things play out and he is not getting younger. His frustration is understandable but he has to accept it (and he will).
But to call him an entitled loser and a fucking joke? Well to each their own opinion I guess. To me Justin is 1 notch below champion material but tiers above others when it comes to entertainment and grit. He only lost to the best of the best anyway.

Honestly Gaethje is doing more talking than fighting lately and it’s starting to get old, like he is.
Justin is old news at 155, guy has shown multiple times that he doesn’t have what it takes to beat the top guy.
Take a fight against not a late replacement and show why you deserve to be in there….or shut the fuck up and take the fun fights like he should be at this stage in his career.
This bullshit of “but but he’s exciting” can only get you so far before you actually have to beat top opponents.

Won 1 fight against a guy he beat already after one of the most definitive losses of all time. Gaethje has no business getting a 3rd title fight, the last 2 clearly showed he wasn't championship material

If you find yourself in a situation where you think the rest of the entire world knowledgeable about something is wrong, you are likely the bozo.
- Dustin is about to have the last fight of his career and is well outside his prime
- Dustin and JG are 1-1, when they were both in their prime, Dustin put him away in a fun fight
- Max out classed Justin over 5 rounds then literally beat him to sleep.
Dustin is retiring because he doesn't have it anymore. JG never had it - his entire career almost as a rule, he loses to ranked fighters. Getting to go 1-1 with Dustin was the exception not the rule.
Justin is solidly top 10 and a fun fighter, no he is not a contender. He is not on that skill level and has never been on that skill level, which is why he gets blown out of the water against elite fighters.
There is definitely some American privilege when we look at the last few years of undeserved titleshots.
Stipe vs Jones. Strickland vs Izzy, Strickland vs DDP 2, O'Malley got a free defense of his choosing vs Chito and now he's getting an immediate rematch vs Merab.
Also, Colby vs Leon, Poirier vs Islam, that female wrestler coming off an injury, etc.
On the flipside, we have Merab and Belal who had to go on crazy winstreaks.
