I was just reading on JWP's wiki that he was going to tryout for TUF Australia vs. Canada but he couldn't because he did not meet the requirements for pro mma fights even though he has had well over a hundred muay thai fights.

What were they thinking in not making an exception for him??

I would of loved to see him win a fight or 2 on TUF and then get a couple non-wrestler opponents in the UFC.

It would have been very sad to see a legend like him get destroyed on TUF anyways

Yeah pretty much. They sign CM Punk with a record of 0-0. They should definitely sign JWP too.

I think it was cuz he's old. Why put a 35+ year old man on TUF? TUF is meant to find up and comers not old legends from another sport. They shoulda just given him an 10k/10k FS1 undercard fight on the Finale card.

Would you have expected them to cast Randy Couture on the Contender???

Slightly OT but if you want to see JWP he's going to be in my corner for UFC 184.

All the respect to JWP but too old for this game. I've seen him fight MMA before soon as he hits the ground he looks lost. I doubt he got any better there.

On TUF they won't set you up with easy fights is up to the coaches who you fight.

Really nice guy with terrific Muay Thai. He would instantly be among the best strikers in the history of the UFC if he signed. Wasn't his 100th fight against Buakaw?

He needs to go do Pro Wrestling for a while and talk some trash. Then he will be qualified. K1 doesnt cut it...

His style is Muay Thai. I am familiar with him for his kickboxing bouts. I understand he does both..

Regardless, I saw a pretty cool documentary about him.. I believe it was 'blessed with venom', but I'm not entirely sure. Seemed like a super nice guy. Would have loved to have seen him on TUF.

Nice. Thanks for the heads up.. Best of luck.

Wow that's awesome, I've been a huge fan of his for a long time.

Edit: shit just realized I quoted the wrong guy, meant to quote Richard Walsh's post. Best of luck Rich!

they've put over 30 yr olds on TUF before. Jessica Rakoczy is 37 yrs old and she was on TUF just a couple of years ago. I'm pretty sure a bunch of the HWs were over 30 when they were on TUF, guys like Kimbo and some of those former NFL players.

It had fuck all to do with age. Dan Kelly is older than him and was on the same season. He just didn't have any pro fights. He owns a promotion he should have just put a one night tourney on and fed himself a couple of cans in sanctioned bouts. 2-0 record would have cut it.
