John Makdessi wants more classes?

Jon just doesn't want to fight the faster 145ers.

We need less weightclasses, not more. And certainly not more weightclasses that are closer in weight.

You seem to have taken this really personally...

There are a few guys that struggle because they're too big and slow for one division, and too small for the one higher up. Nate Diaz for example would be better suited at a compromise between 155 and 170.

well it pisses me off that type of attitude will ruin the sport

As for diaz yeah i said give him a free belt at 162 lolol

There are very few fighters that legitimately sit in between weight classes (Rich Franklin may have been one, though he did just fine at 185).

Makdessi needs to either hit the gym or the treadmill and get his body synced up with one of the existing classes.

The only new class I could understand would be something in between 205 and 265, and only because it really is a huge difference. HW might actually have enough quality fighters now that a split could work. Maybe.

155 and 170 are super stacked (one of them has like almost 100 fighters in the UFC at that weight I think). a decent amount could probably benefit from a half way weightclass and still leave 170 and 155 stacked.

I think it'd create an exciting new weight class and put on some great fights but i respect your point of view, nobody wants to fuck with how good 170 and 155 are right now

I mean i can see some guys saying 14-15 pounds is a bit much of a gap but 145-155?

I dont want boxing where theres 17 classes and still guys like Cotto want catch weights to DEFEND a belt lol its crazy

So when he loses he is too small for 155?

I have a better idea, don't take the fight if you doubt yourself.

no, MMA doesnt have the depth to have a lot of weight classes

and every fucking event would be a title fight, a lot of classes no one would care i think

and not only that but like youre gonna fragment classes like fw and lw, 2 of the best ones, and you will have classes with like 5 worthy fighters

omg imagine fragmented hw, with like 3 worthy fighters

:icon_lol:

I actually don't mind more classes and wouldn't mind seeing a class for every 10lbs. Although between 155lbs and 170, you'd have a class only 5lbs lighter than welterweight, so it kinda makes that one pointless.

Either every class changes 5lbs to make it 120lbs, 130lbs, etc, or the welter would have to go up 5lbs. So pretty much only 165lbs and 195lbs would be introduced as I don't think anyone knows what to do above light-heavyweight as heavyweight is fairly shallow as it is.

The lower 200's, such as 215lbs, 225lbs would have a fair amount, once you get to 235, 245, those divisions would be tiny.

what the actual fuck

you want to complete destroy hw right now?

hw is pretty bad as of right now and you wanna just completely obliterate it?

I could be wrong, but didn't he miss weight a time or two?

I sorta agree but I'd like to see the weight classes revamped if anything. For the men, start @ 130 and go every 10lbs till you hit 190 then go to 205. Keep the women at 5s.
