Conor McGregor’s coach will be taking an extra precautionary measure to ensure the safety of his fighters in 2017.

John Cavanagh recently issued a statement on his Facebook page announcing that all professional and amateur fighters under the SBG Ireland banner will be required to undergo a “one-off” brain scan in 2017 in order to represent the team.

“For 2017 ALL SBG fighters, both amateur and professional will be getting a one off brain scan to make sure there's no underlying issues that would preclude them from competing. It is not yet a requirement to get this done to compete on shows but it will be a requirement to represent SBG,” Kavanagh wrote.

    I mean, it's obvious, right?

the amount of shit that they're talking lately, it is clear that they have something in their heads that requires it to be scanned (they probably don't have anything in there at all, I might say)

I would recommend kavanagh be extra catious with artem, himself and dillon danis
it is quite disturbing the amount of crap that is coming out of their mouth

Despite all the shit he gets around here, Kavanagh seems like a good guy.

I mean, yeah he's probably a good guy with his friends and all that, but I DESPISE him talking trash on twitter and talk like mcgregor and crap like that. just like artem and dillon do. it's really annoying

but other than that, he's most certainly not a scumbag. I mean, he's not mcgregor's TKD coach that killed a guy in ireland, that's for sure

Kavanagh looking out for his fighters, in contrast to a certain Jackson in Alburqurque allowing fighters to hide from drug tests underneath octagons

And yet both you and the guy you quoted are talking about them because of it. It's just marketing. It's dumb to hold it against them.

Can't stand Kavanagh, but this is a really good deal for his fighters. I hope all of the camps see this and start doing the same.

This could be a good trend for any mma gyms.

Don't care for him but I respect this

This is only going to be negative for his gym or anyone's gym. It is going to cost them money to test, then there is almost certainly going to be guys who have taken some brain damage from fighting and if they think they shouldn't compete that could be a big loss in $$ depending on who the guys are

It is of course looking out for the person above your own brand.

Always been really conflicted on this as an MMA fan because the idea is to give your opponent a concussion or break their limb w/e. Don't want to see guys i respected 10 years from now brain damaged from it all for our entertainment....but it is what happens

Not sure how the health industry work in Ireland. But the amount of money he making now I'm sure he could afford it to do it once a year for all fighters.

That's nice of him but I really don't know of any other fighter in that camp besides Conor and little Conor.

I know Conor haters will make their jokes but this should be standard for all gyms. Too many times I've seen guys in gyms just going full speed sparring when it's pretty obvious they have underlying brain issues
