Gunnars spent a fairly long time with SBG now. Some good fighters coming through as well, gold (Mlambo) and a bronze (Kavenaugh) at recent amatuer worlds.

but sbg will just be part of a larger group.

So they will have one of the best strikers, McGregor. One if the wrestlers, Khabib. And one if the best jiu jitsu guys, Gunner. They are going to be a force

And the rest of mcgregor's team look either ok or is Cathal Pendred.
is that really enough to base a "superteam" on?

And still spliting time up is dumb for Khabib and if he takes on some kind of trainer role at that new camp it will take away from his fighting career and preparation it's maybe cool for a life after MMA but it's not a fighter should do unless he has one foot out of the door already

this seems like a thing that is going on in soccer right now
all these rich sjeiks and business men buying soccer teams, trying to spend as much money as they can, to try and form a team of superstars

not a formula for garantueed succes
 
I think McGregor and Khabib could really help each other to tighten weak areas of their styles like Cro Cop and Werdum a decade ago.
 
Please no, or at least let Khabib become champ and beat Conor before this happens. AKA is a lot better than SBG.
 
People that say AKA i better than SBG are fooling themselves. AKA has the best talent in MMA but Kavanagh is BY FAR the best mind. Look at what the guy has done in 2 years with MINIMAL talent. He is getting guys with no wrestling background, no major martial arts background and is working with the population of a state like Rhode Island. Thus far, with minimal talent, his guys have like a 95% victory rate in the octagon and are taking the sport from a place of checkers to chess and a place of lay n praying to exciting finishes.

How quickly some of you forget what it was like when Tommy Egan first made his UFC debut and how apparent it was that Ireland was years behind the rest of the field. It is nothing short of brilliance that the most dominant striking talent (Conor) the UFC has ever seen is linking up with the most dominant grappling talent (Khabib). With this type of money behind them, look for many other top fighters to make the switch.

AKA was the best gym but they never had the best training methods and their fighters lacked finishing abilities (which Kavanagh's fighter's have in spades). AKA was succesful solely owing to the premise that "iron sharpens iron", how old and large AKA was and the fighters that it attracted but always had trouble keeping guys healthy and moving their mental progress/skillsets along (hence DC beat by JJ and Cain beat by Werdum). MMA is progressing at an astounding rate and Kavanagh is the coach of the future, I am glad to see that he is getting the financial backing that he deserves.
 
McGregors wrestling is going to greatly improve

Ok but unless Khabib moves to WW (where Gunnar Nelson fights) he and Conor Mc will have to fight at some point unless one is content to not be champ, since Conor Mc will most likely fight at LW. Maybe Gunnar to MW?
 
Hes undefeated, in one of the best camps, why would he leave ?
