In a shocking turn of events, it seems long time head coach, John Crouch asked Dern to leave the team.
Both have agreed to part ways, and on the surface seems to be an amiable parting.
The UFC strawweight fighter and Brazilian jiu-jitsu ace said Wednesday at a UFC media lunch that she was asked to leave The MMA Lab in Arizona after her last fight. Dern defeated Ashley Yoder by unanimous decision at UFC 222 back in March in her UFC debut.
“In relation with the Lab, after my last fight, Coach [John] Crouch, he just invited me to leave the team,” Dern said. “I think really we don’t have a 100-percent understanding. I think he knows his decisions more than me. I think with just the consistency, he wanted me to be there more often than what I was, but everything happens for a reason.”
