Joe Rogan: UFC is trying to set up Pacquiao vs McGregor

Anybody who thinks Conor has a shot in this is a moron or twelve.
Have you seen Manny? His walk around weight is probably 140, at best, and he is pretty shop worn by now. Conor is walking around above 170, has one of the nastiest crosses in all of combat sports, and is in his prime.

I would rarely give the edge to an MMA fighter in a boxing match, but Conor wins this. The story would have been different 6 or 7 years ago, but it's 2020. Pacman needs to stick with politics and stay out of the ring.

Keith Thurman cuts about 15 pounds. He's nearly 170. How would Conor do against him?

Badly in boxing.

Like I said, most boxers beat 99% of MMArtists in a boxing match. For a year in 2013 I sparred regularly with pro boxers. I ended up stopping because all these white flashes and jelly legs were actually minor concussions, because I was getting lit up in the latter rounds so much. Boxers spend 100% of their time just using their hands, in MMA you basically do 4 different sports.

I won't even entertain the narrative that MMA guys would do well in boxing unless they started from there. Pacman/Conor is criminal for the size difference alone. Then take into account Pacman's age and fights (literally hundreds) and all Conor would need to do is land one left, while I don't think Pacman literally has the power to put Conor away. Not at this point.

They should set up Conor Vs GGG. Id like to see the excuses Conors diehard fans would make for him after that

Pac beat Thurman. So McGregor would do "badly" against Thurman and then would stop Pac? How does that work?

Conor will end up flat on his back and I will enjoy the GIFS/memes

Dana book it! lol

I'm not exactly a boxing pundit, but I watched that fight. I thought Thurman won. It was a split decision from memory.

And Pac is in his 40's now. One year is an infinitely bigger difference when you're in you're 40's than in your 20's of 30's. I'm a huge Manny fan. I really don't want to see him take anymore punishment, and he's eaten massive punches over his pro career due to his aggressive style. After he lost to our local boy Horn, I thought he should hang them up.

Love him or hate him, Conor landed clean punches on Mayweather, something that Manny struggled with two fights before. Conor is a better boxer than he gets credit for, and just the size difference alone doesn't make it fair.

A lot of money and no face lost in MMA. It's a more dangerous proposition than Mayweather was, though. Mayweather was two or three punches away from laying McGregor out, but he was methodical and the ref stepped in. I don't think that kind of mercy will be extended to McGregor if Pac is fighting.

Fair play if you're not into boxing, but man, current Pacquiao is at least as sharp as the Mayweather who fought McGregor (he's sharper). He might actually take the fight seriously and not clearly carry the guy until the round that his lads bet on. Pac still has a ruthless offense at times. McGregor doesn't have a defense. That's a slaughter.

The spectacle of a 5' 5'' Pinoy whooping McGregor around the ring in front of an international audience would be something.

I don't disagree with any of that. I just think size and mileage matters. Conor is basically a 170 fighter now and would easily dwarf Pac, by a huge margin, plus he's a decade younger, has the most viscous cross in MMA, and phenominal counter striking.

It's debatable saying Pac is sharper than Mayweather....he wears far more punches because they have polar opposite styles.

Dunno man. Not saying you are wrong, but we wouldn't know until it happens. And I hope it doesn't.

Goddamn bum conor fought again against a bum cowboy and know his groupies think he is a world beater again lol.
Fuck is was good when the douche was 'retired'.

Pac willl nokihm out in 2, I don't see the point of this fight. whats next, conor doing a porn movie? it will earn millions too.

If it does happen (within this year), I'll give you some prime odds on it (I'm willing to go high if your bet is high enough). Pac is far sharper than Mayweather was. Mayweather was showing real cracks against Berto of all people, two years before McGregor. The guys reflexes were shot by the McGregor fight. Pac's, rather miraculously, aren't.

What's the point of Conor's career and life? Money, more or less. It makes more money than anything else available in what is a slightly hobbled sport (in terms of concerns about continuity). Conor doesn't lose much face (as long as Pac doesn't break his face and KO him cold) and makes another massive payday. MMA does kind of need McGregor as an engine, though. So, I can see how the powers at be won't want it. I've always thought Dana was rather myopic, though.

Pac likely stops Conor within 3 rounds pretty violently, but man........imagine if Conor really does pull it off. He will be even bigger than he was prior to Floyd or the Khabib fight. Rematch with Khabib might break records. Rematch with Floyd might be even bigger than the first one..

dana is a true capitalist, capitalism is extremely short sighted. watch how america is destroying its land by fracking oil.

Even the old past his prime Manny Pacquiao will be too fast for him. His footwork and hand speed are unreal even at his age.

No question Conor has a punchers chance but I think he'll get smoked.

Conor McGregor absolutely DOES NOT have a punchers chance against Manny Pacquiao. I’m amazed it even needs to be said after the Mayweather bout.

He does not hit hard enough to hurt a high level professional boxer, even with a significant weight and age advantage.

That one wouldnt go 10 rounds, might not go 5. Manny is much more aggressive than Floyd, and even at 41 hes still very high level.

And Rogan is an idiot when it comes to boxing.

The way you guys look at the likes of Max Kellerman and Stephen A Smith when it comes to MMA is the same way the boxing community looks at Rogan.
