Joe Rogan brought up the topic of weight cutting on his recent podcast. What are your thoughts on weight cutting?

Wow. I am the first one to vote. Yes weight cutting is going to get someone killed.

PED's is the dark secret.

Lol what? PEDs are in every sport. MMA fighters getting caught ar a higher rate because they can't afford the good shit.

Weight cutting isn't much of a secret

Just listened to Chael's podcast with Kurt Angle. Kurt said he never cut weight because he didn't think he'd be able to train his hardest & thus wouldn't improve. When he won the Olympic gold at heavyweight, I think he said he was around 212 pounds or so.

I remember when Arturo Gatti almost took Joey Gamache's head off. At fight time, Gatti was at least 20 lbs heavier. I don't see how the ability to cut a ton of weight is relevant to boxing (or fighting in general). People said, "Yeah, but Joey could cut like that too and fight at a lower weight." Well, probably not.

I just think weight cutting is bullshit. The argument is that people will do it no matter what, to get a competitive edge, and that's probably true. So I'll just continue to bitch about it valiantly in my mind.

Could it be that some of the best weight cutters in UFC history used some undetectable high level shit for it?

Otherwise, why wouldn't all fighters cut such an incredible amounts like GSP or Jones with no problem?

It's a secret to casuals. Much like peds. Not a secret to us sherdoggers

Just a part of fighting. Losing a few kilos for a fight is very normal. I guess extreme weight cutting and dehydration then re-hydration can be considered a "a dark secret" to people who know nothing about MMA.

Can Rogan please talk about something other than weight cutting, shitty judging, 12-6 elbows, eye pokes, shrooms, and alpha brain?

Well its only dark as far as what methods they are using to achieve it, diuretics, cortisone, GW1516, Clenbuterol, so not really much of a secret even then :D

aside from PED use, weight cutting is the dumbest f**king practise in MMA (and numerous other sports).

This has been debated to death though...nothing will change.

No, everyone talks about it all the time. Fighters just need to learn there is diminishing returns. Machida had a good run at a higher weight than was his "natural" so did Frankie Edgar and others. The sport will develop and fighters/coaches will figure out the perfect balance where you're not too depleted from the weight cut to perform best... Hopefully!

I think your thing of diuretics,
Which a lot of fighters get popped for.

Cyborg off the top of my head.

Most of the diuretics positives are probably where they are being used as masking agents. There are better ways to cut weight than diuretics

Cheap crap, I guess.

There are designer drugs (PEDs) that can't be detected, I'm wondering/asking if there are any of the sort that are used for weight cutting?

Do you listen to his show? He talks about almost everything. When he's talking to fighters.... fighting-based topics tend to come up. Shocking
