Hate to agree with rogaine but he is right on this one.

 

It's called having a balanced opinion. Rogan seems to be a fan of McGregor which is very normal for an MMA fan, because McGregor is a hell of an MMA fighter. But saying his belt doesn't mean much is also a pretty normal take. Rogan is obviously correct.

Anyone saying Conor's success is made up at this point really should be more worried about their own credibility than Rogan's.

 

To be honest, it confuses the hell out of the casuals (You know, majority of ppv buyers). Heard some guys at work talking, saying Conor is the "division world champion".

 

I'm a Conor fan and an Aldo fan, but you only hold the real belt if you beat the guy who had it before you beat him.

Aldo is the champion Conor interim champ. The real undisputed champ will be decided this December.

Fans have right to believe their guy is the true champion. Personally i think Conor will beat Aldo, but hes not beaten him yet.

Interim belts are pointless and just stir up controversy. I wish they would stop doing this. If they want to strip the champ after a certain amount of inactivity and put the belt up for grabs, I could live with that. Otherwise it means the the interim holder is really holding the #1 contender slot card and nothing else.

Yes, Conor's success is made up, he's a uni-dimensional fighter that got propulsed by the UFC's hype machine and networks. He got a title-shot that he didn't deserve in the first place, and then fought a Chad Mendes who knew that in 2 weeks he had this fight, it doesn't matter if Conor wasn't training specifically for Chad, because compared to Chad he was still training to fight at that specific date. If anything, Conor is the 3rd contender, yet he's presented like a revolutionary beast.

You must understand what a "success" means.

Interim belts are odd, and their value differs depending on the situation.

At the very least they serve as placeholders for a fight with the actual champion.

 

It's strange how I am starting to agree with Rogan on a couple of things these days.
He surely is not making outrageous claims here, he is simply stating the obvious to the oblivious.
