Joe Pearson started his MMA career back in 2002 and holds the record for the most wins by triangle choke in mma history (24 of his 41 submission victories are by triangle choke, however of his 31 defeats, 19 of which are by submission, he has been defeated by triangle choke 4 times two of which were by Erik Koch & Miguel Torres). In his 77 fight career he has faced many recognisable fighters.
1. Hatsu Hioki, lost via submitting to strikes in R1
2. Miguel Torres, lost via triangle choke in R1
3. Urijah Faber, lost via submitting to strikes in R1
4. Erik Koch, lost via triangle choke in R1
5. Raphael Assuncao, lost via TKO 12 seconds into R1
6. Chico Camus, lost via TKO in R2
7. Daniel Strauss, lost via submitting to strikes in R2
8. Masonori Kanehara, lost via KO 21 seconds into R1
9. Mirsad Bektic, lost via TKO in R1
The most interesting of his achievements is that in 77 fights, he has never gone the distance (excluding a draw).
I know this isn’t exactly fit for the ufc discussion but he has faced a lot of stiff competition comprising of mostly UFC veterans.
