The core culture revolves around the celebration of that (men) through all forms of art and a desire to be the embodiment of it. It often turns out to be the case - however ultimately fleeting - in no small part due to a considerable level of personal interest and investment.
It's really quite irrelevant how hetero men feel about it* and disparagement is virtually the default (like ultra's post).
