To all my fellow bjj guys in Europe, aloha (hello) from Hawaii.

My girlfriend has put a deposit on a European vacation for both of us next year March 2006. We will be leaving Hawaii and taking that loooong plane ride to London, Paris and Rome.

We will be staying in London for four days and will be staying at:
London Bridge Hotel
8-18 London Bridge Street
London SE1 9SG, England

I will do the tourist thing in the day and really want to train while on vacation. I want to train with Gracie Barra UK (Roger Gracie's Academy) while there so if anyone trains there or knows someone from there that wants to help out a grappler from Hawaii, please pm or email me at [email protected].

After leaving London we are taking a bullet train or some kind of train to Paris and will be staying at:

Hotel Magellan
17-19 rue Jean-Baptiste Dumas,
Paris 75017, France

Again by day, tourist, by night I want to train any bjj place close to the hotel I am staying. We will be there for 4 days so I would love to train while on vacation you can email me or pm me too.

Four days later we take a plane to Rome and will be staying at:

Via Properzio 2/A
Rome, IT 80193

So there it is guys and girls. If anyone can hook me up with a school, their own or otherwise have information on places to train while there please pm or email me. My girl knows that I will be training when I can and that is my life, she just is going to go shopping which actually works out.

I'm doing this early because we have to book tourist type tours before December to save money and man is the dollar not worth much over there. If you want anything from Hawaii that will not break US, Federal or International laws I will try to get it for you as a thank you.

I am searching the internet and contacting all the people that I have rolled with or trained with from Europe. Thanks in advance and I hope it is an excellent European Vacation.

Thing is that I am NOT the one planning the trip plus I am only paying half of my share and kind of going along for the ride, so to speak. Here is the short story.

I trained muay thai before jj and one day this girl come to my muay thai class and basically calls me out in front of the class because she was a brown belt in Kempo Karate that won all kinds of tournaments. The head instructor wanted her to train with the girls first and then our little guys after sparring them, she asked to spar me but my teacher and friend told her no that I was too big and strong for her and for her to spar the little guys but she was insistent so we sparred.

I took it easy with her and just blocked her kicks and punches for a while just hoping that she would get tired or quit. But she didn't and she actually gave me a pretty solid kick for a girl that trained kempo. After getting that kick I countered with a solid muay thai round house kick that took both legs out from under her and ended with her on her ass. That got her mad and although she limped a little she tried again so I kicked her with my strong side and that one had to hurt because she said "time out" and sat down. I felt kind of bad for literally kicking her ass and apologized and she said "Its okay I asked for it." We got to talking and then she asked me out and after several months of dating we got serious together. We've been together ever since.

Its coming up on our 3 year anniversary and she will be graduating from Hawaii Pacific University here in Honolulu. She said it was her dream to go to Europe and see the famous places. Money is tight for me but she told me that she would be paying half for me to go to Europe and booked a tour through Go Ahead Travel.

We are going to the places that are on this tour package and that is the ONLY reason why I am not going to Spain. Hell, I have been figuring our a way to train there but can't seem to get it done. No matter by train or plane it adds another $1,500 for me alone much less her. The dollar is really weak right now for some reason. Plus we are going to Las Vegas for a week so money is tight.

Robin Gracie is my teacher's youngest brother and I would LOVE to meet and train with him. I'm sure that Relson could have put in a call but damn its not in the tour right now. I'm serious. I would really love it but can't swing it no matter what.

I have been using the internet a lot to plan my training around my girl's tourist tours and being the understanding girl she is she knows I will train while she shops so its all good with her. She just leaves it up to me to find the place to train that is near the hotels and that is why I posted that information. I am hoping that my friend Daniel de Lima (Gracie Barra BB), who trained with Roger Gracie, will hook me up there in London but as far as the other places I am using sherdog to hook me up and if not there is always the internet.

To them people that sent me a pm or posted here I say thanks. Anytime you come to Hawaii and want to train I am your man and tour guide for sure.

I will use that information from the pm or posts for my trip for sure.

That place looks really awesome and would love to meet you and train there, when I am in Rome. With the information on my hotel posted, is it close or super far to the academy?

Because I live in Hawaii, everything seems close to me but I understand that Rome is a very large area. I think I have to take a taxi whereever I go because being an American I would probably get lost trying to navigate in Rome. Please post me back and let me know how far it is from my hotel so I can include a visit to the academy.

If we can get together and train that would be awesome!

Yup, when I am in Vegas probably try training there. I trained a guy named Ryan in muay thai but he left Hawaii and went up there to train. I don't know if he went to Cobra Kai or LVCC but whereever is fine with me. I got no politics when it comes to training. If someone is willing to teach me I'm willing to tap as soon as caught with no problems.

Also you know me if I got pictures I'll cc you a set and one day when I figure out how to post them here on sherdog I got a lot to post. My g.f. is cool with me training and it figures she knows I train because I train her bjj and muay thai now. Plus she knew me and my life was training so she does not give me any problems even on vacation in romantic Europe or Las Vegas. Plus she's paying half, so I can't go wrong no matter what. Just sad I can't swing Robin's Academy while I am there. I'm really sick about that but the dollar exchange rate is sooooo bad right now. My God, its like we are a poor country or something. I think it is almost .50 to the american dollar.

If you got hook ups in Paris or know anyone let me know. UK and Rome looks solid unless the Rome academy is too far.

He lives minutes away from my hotel in Rome and the academy is a short ride from there, two stops Marco?. He has offered his services to take me to pick me up and take me to his school which was in two magazines recently. Thank you very much Marco for your hospitality. One of the reasons I train in martial arts is to meet new friends and Marco is definetely a new found friend halfway around the world. Totally awesome!!! I'm glad I posted the hotel address. Its going to be unreal training in Europe! Oh yeah, plus seeing the sites. Hahaha.

Holy wow!!!! That is a fricken awesome story. I'm cracking up right now.

I've done traditional style martial arts for most my life...but even I knew there is a size advantage. That is the reason they have divisions in boxing!!!



But you *have* to admire her spirit. Seriously. She sounds like a keeper guy. Good for you! I hope you guys have a great vacation.

Yup, my girl is a keeper everyone tells me. Too bad she was at school when you came to Hawaii or she would have made us lunch or take us out. Everytime there is a big fight like, Rumble on the Rock, Superbrawl, etc, she drops me off and picks me up or lets the guys drop me off later. Everyone thought she was nuts to demand to spar me but I guess she was confident and gutsy enough for sure.

We are planning a great adventure. I mean, can you imagine? Stonehedge by day, training with Roger Gracie and dad by night?, Colseum by day, tribe brazillain jiujitsu with Ghost Armlock by night? Its going well, I just need a Paris hookup right now.

By the way I saw a post of yours a while back saying that you might enter a no gi event? How did you do?
