From Fightland's JENS PULVER ON ANXIETY, ABUSE, AND THE FIGHTING SPIRIT By Liam Resnekov (May 22, 2014):

Maybe time to transfer all that energy to coaching, just getting fit? It has been a great run, UFC's first lightweight champion! Thanks for everything you've done for the sport!

He said right before he announced his retirement and came back two months later for the fifth time.

Jens is almost 10 years past his prime. It's sad watching him keep fighting.

Pulver is the terry funk of mma. He won't retire until people stop paying him to fight....but indy promoters will always want his name no matter how bad he is now. I feel him though...if he does not have other options that will pay him as good..it's tough to walk away

I'd rather never see him fight again but I'll always be a supporter of him as a person. From where he came from, he's accomplished so much and he seems like a genuinely good person. WAR PULVER!

I have always been a big Pulver fan! With that being said, how much does he honestly make at fight nowdayz? Surely promotors cannot afford to pay him 20k to show 20k to win. 5k flat? 4k? Anyways he is 27-19 and I believe 3-5 in his last 8 and has looked pretty bad. If he has no where else to go to make money to support his family, than keep fighting for the paycheck I guess. I wish he could find a full time commentating gig...

Maybe, Jens? Yes he should probably retire, it would be one thing if he was losing fights in a major org and getting good dough but I can't imagine him getting paid a lot on these cards he's been fighting on. I hope he gets something going where he can take care of his family and not fight anymore.

Would like to see anybody tell me Pulver wouldn't train people to be CHAMPIONS.

Jens Pulver if he went into coaching would be one of the greatest MMA coaches ever. I know it.

Which is why he should retire. Fighting when you aren't mentally in the game is asking to be hurt.
