I was at Target the other day and saw some Jelly Belly 'Sport Beans' - they are a small pack of 'energizing jelly beans' that they claim have 'carbs, electrolytes, and vitamins B & C'. Take them 30 minutes before activity.

Do you think there is any merit to this? I f'in love Jelly Beans!

What else is in them?

Bring us an ingredient list.

Sugar, corn syrip, (following less than 2% or less): natural flavor, thiamine hydrochloride, riboflavin, niacinamide, asorbic acid, citric acid, citrus pectin, potassium citrate, soium citrate, sodium lactate, red 40, blue 1, beeswax, carbauba wax, confectioner's glaze, salt, blah blah blah.

Now that you look at that - it seems like a regular jelly bean. Though they are bigger than your average jelly belly.

I am a jelly bean connoisseur.

you can eat any candy and get a little sugar rush if it will help you.

if you really want something that will work go with expresso or coffee...

Interesting........I love jelly beans too(especially Starburst jelly beans)

Looks like there calling them sport beans because of the thiamine and riboflavin ect.

It seems like a lot of products are trying to jump on the "energizing" issue.

I always try to read the label closely.

The basic ingredients of jelly beans include sugars, corn syrup, and food starch

From Wikipedia

98% of the sport jelly bean is also sugar and corn syrup. They are a scam in my opinion. All they did was take regular jelly beans and throw in some electrolytes... no big deal. There is merit to consuming sugar before training but I'd take it in a liquid form before I downed a cup of jelly beans.

Ingredients look pretty much like regular jelly beans, i.e., not good for you.

I saw some "energy" gum the other day, basically regular gum w/ some B vitamins. And it was only $4 for 8 pieces!!

Think that's bad, check out a product called Z-Trim. Suposed to supress your appetite? What is it you ask? 0.2g of fiber per pill. Basically, it's a $60 bottle containing 24g of fiber! I think it is actually oat fiber too.

Those things are shit. I always see fatasses at the gym pounding back powerbars/gatorade/power gel shite while they walk on a treadmill.

My bad, I was at the store again, they're only (a-hem) $3. Still a jip though.

You can probably get the same effects as the Sport Beans from eating a table spoon of honey.
