http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2016/5/7...in-russia-after-promoter-urges-him-to-compete

A little over 30 seconds into his scheduled fight against Ivan Shtyrkova in Yekaterinburg, Russia, Monson dragged the fight to the ground but was unable to move his arm because of an injury sustained a month earlier. He felt his bicep tear as he kept a hold of Shtyrkova. At that point, he decided to surrender and limit the damage to his arm.

Jeff severely injured his bicep a month ago while training in Saint Petersburg. He talked to the promoter about bowing out of the fight, and the promoter asked Jeff to reconsider. He reluctantly agreed.

Careless and shitty behavior by the promoter if true. And a very sad day to see Monson so hobbled by injuries he can barely move on the ground :(

Sigh. He's going to have body parts fall off if he keeps going at this rate.

Fuck. Jeff...stop.

Didn't he say he wanted 60 wins and then he would retire? He already won 60. He should call it a day.

Jeff give it up man! Your career was one that anyone would be proud of. You fought for a world title, fought in every corner of the globe, what else is left to do?

I think he wants to become a martyr for Russian MMA.

Well, he clearly needs money. There's no other explanation.

On a side note, both guys looked horsemeated as hell.

Apparently the economy in Russia is tuff for him. A man can't live on the bread line alone.

That's his dream, though. Probably shares a 2 room apartment with other couples, as well.

Oh man... It's very hard being a Monson fan nowadays. I just hope he retires efore he starts falling apart.
