I understand that this is a very common question in the mma community, but why all the hate for the Sage/Paige combination?
If you were offered the star treatment by the ufc would you really turn it down.
When Sage first joined the ufc, he agreed to 40k to show and 40 to win purse drawing a lot of resentment from fellow fighters(mostly the boring lay and pray wrestlers). Why would they try to bring him down, instead of make themselves more interesting. Is it because Sage/Paige can bring interest to the sport and themselves without having to make to make nasty/deeply personal comments to other fighter.
We should either support them or at least not to subscribe to the crab mentality and let them be
It seems that some fans and fighters alike resent Sage/Paige more bacause of their inadequacies and insecurities

Because the UFC tries to choose who becomes a star instead of just letting it happen naturally.

I understand that 100%, but it's not something that they should be blamed for, especially when the average fighter struggles to pay the bills. Even the mid tier of the lightweight and welterweight division is a sharktank for Sage to overcome. Sage brings a look to the sport and he would be foolish not to use it to his advantage

We tend to forget that a promotion is more about selling fights than some merit based code. This is nothing new, the UFC just wasn't in as much of a position to take advantage of it years ago.

So many fans got it in their head that the fighters with the most merit would get the attention and the pay form the organization. But that's not the means for the greatest profitability for them. The fans may as well get over it, because this is the way it will be going forward.

I don't think anyone wants to be the debuting fighter who makes 10k/10k with the shitty 2.5k reebok sponsership and any chance to jump that line in a the 2 toughest divisions would do that. Sage and Paige have other options too

Because it's the ultimate FIGHTING championship, too many people were obsessed with his looks. Being a stepping stone to Mickey Gall was the last nail on the coffin for this hype train, those pectoral muscles won't be paying his bills for long.

I don't have any ill feelings towards paige/sage or any other ufc promotion hyped fighters. Not their fault the UFC is giving them exposure. It's not fair, but anyone who doesn't know by now that the UFC is about entertainment/money moreso than trying to be a legitimate "sport" promotion should wake up.

Because the popularity and salary of a fighter should be based on results, not looks or the buddy system.

Chris Cornell may be the greatest musician of our lifetime, and for that I will make no apologies!

Youtube him at Santander, seasons/Thedayitriedtolive, the seasons rendition is really good but the other is the only music you'll need for a week!

    You're welcome.

I agree......guess I am old fashioned.....but I think the fans should decide who deserves stardom and who doesn't.....we seem to make better choices then the UFC does,,, example: the three pretenders who got they asses handed to them Saturday Nite on UFC on Fox!!

I agree they should not be blamed for it but it's unavoidable.

They are at the tip of the hype spear.

Of course they are going to take a great contract. It's just a jagged little pill for other fighters to swallow and it's hard to attack your employer when you are at the bottom so ... the "Vanilla twins" are going to catch hell from everyone.

It's not fair but it's understandable (to me, anyway).
