jds sparring with olympic boxer
Cant watch the video but aren't all Olympic boxers amateurs?
In Brazil, they are probably the best right now. Don't think they are any worse than the average pros, tho.
Boxing is really dead here, you don't hear about any events, organizations, promoters, pro fighters... MMA already swallowed any other kind of fighting around here.
If you think Brazil is full of talents and fighters in the mma scene, just wait till the kids who started training because of this fever come out guns blazing at 18 years old.

No they aren't, but you bring up a good point as most boxers stop boxing in the olympics when they progress their pro career.
However olympic boxing is like amateur boxing with less rounds and more emphasis on point fighting (head guards big gloves).
This is important because this video shows nothing of JDS' skills - i.e: his ability to bring extreme violence. It has won him each all his fights in the UFC

Klitschkos would murder in In BOXING.... but 155 isn't a boxing match. Him with the olympic boxer is just saying his boxing skills may be a slight better than Cain... ie. the same results from the 1st fight will happen in this fight, just might happen in a different rd

I'm pretty excited for this fight with Cain as I think the first one wasn't a true indicator of how good they both are. Cain was hurt and so was JDS. I think Cain will bring it to JDS this fight but gets finished in the later rounds.

What I took away from this video is that JDS is going to be the much better striker. He's a much more disciplined striker than Cain, and that is going to result in victory every time unless Cain can mix up his attack.

The guy he sparred with is much quicker. I would say JDS was at a disadvantage because it was only sparring, and the smaller, quicker guy is going to be harder to hit and beat the larger guy to the punch.

JDS would have a much better showing against a larger guy in a real pro boxing match. I think JDS would lose to either of the Klitschkos, but he brings a lot more to the table than a lot of their recent opponents.

you don't know what other training he has done before this sparring.
he likes really tired

Absolutely elite for an MMA fighter, just not for a boxer. He did ok against this guy, but the Olympic boxer definitely beat him. So against an Olympic caliber boxer... not so much. But you don't need to be that high a level against MMA guys. His boxing is incredible for an MMA fighter.

Also, this isnt to say JDS couldnt be an elite boxer in his own right, but when you focus on takedowns, submissions, etc, you just cant put the same training into your boxing as a straight boxer would.

Agreed. His striking is very effective for MMA and that's obvious. In a boxing match, he gets owned. Forgive me if I am wrong, but didn't JDS say he would knock Klitschko out in a boxing match? If he said that, he was either trolling or seriously wrong. A smaller, amateur olympic boxer bested him in that round. The boxer is no can, but is no where near high level professional.

Thanks for the replies. I dont follow boxing so wasn't entirely sure.

Was a silver medalist this olympics, but hes only 165 lb. He can probably make 155 day before weighins

To be fair, it didn't seem like JDS was trying to knock the guys block off or anything.

lololol, he got rocked a few times.

his boxing is truly not up to par for boxers.

If JDS trains more boxing, shit he'd be fucking dangerous

jds keeps hands. too low at times in mma fights, a Guy like mark hunt can and will capitolise on that so could pat bary, too bad there's really no other pure strikers at heavyweight that could threatened jds.

Very true, but it is apparent that his footwork is no where near a professional level for boxing. His punching isn't as crisp and his head movement is minimal. Without head movement and solid footwork, Klitschko blasts him.

With that said, he's not a boxer and his standup is tremendous for the sport he is in. He may even be a good boxer if he dedicated his time to one discipline, he certainly has the hands.

JDS is wearing 16 or 18 ounce gloves and the boxer is wearing 12 ounce gloves. You can tell. In my Boxing gym when I spar, since I am a 245 pounds they have me wear 18 ounces.

The heavier the gloves, the slower your punch will be. Imagine how fast those fists of JDS would be if it was with four ounce gloves. I noticed that difference when I take off the 18s and I hit the bag with 4 ounce gloves.
