JDS totally underestimated and disrespected Cain's stand-up skills and that's what cost him the fight.
He started off well, defending takedown attempts and getting back to his feet quickly when taken down.
He thought that the only thing he had to worry about were takedowns. But after that punch landed, it was all over. He wasn't able to recover from it. It was the beginning of the end and I'm surprised he lasted full five rounds.
People who are questioning JDS' cardio have never been hit in the gym (or more likely never stepped into the gym at all). It's not cardio, when you get hit in the chin clearly, it takes everything away from you.
JDS needs to go back to the drawing board, the same way Caind did after their first encounter, and I believe he's one fight away from the title shot.

Nah. He just got beat by a better, more rounded fighter. It happens all the time...

sounds good i guess, makes no sense in real life, but people always draw these kinds of faulty conclusions - people are fcking morons for a day or two after fights, the threads here are funny

jds looked to be in good shape and the same shape as usual - cain got tired trying to put jds away but he wouldnt be put away - toward the end, it even looked like he came on a bit

i think people make predictions and get them wrong, they also voice their picks so confidently (when the fight is basically a toss up) so then they come down extra hard on the fighters who 'let them down' - gotta be mad at someone i guess when you

    standard post fight occurrences

Of course he lost because he didn't defend the punches properly, hands down all the time.

But Cain really mixed it nicely, JDS feared the TD, and got punched in the face.

    1-1 now.

Hate to admit it because I both wanted and predicted JDS to win, but Cain is by far a more mixed mixed-martial artist.

He didn't disrespect or underestimate anything.. he looked gassed.

Generally hard to compete with a world class athlete when you're zombeying your ass across the octagon.

He evidently gassed and then couldn't do anything but survive. The rest is conjecture.

It was unreal. Literally just a few minutes in he was compeltely wasted. So unusual.

yeah and that was before the big punch landed
you know, even crocop taged him, nelson taged him, gonzaga and yvel pushed him, but he was always able to counter punch and defend
    not this time
    that was weird
he was unable to respond in any way

Yeah Yvel landed a nasty one on him and he kept moving forward.

I really think he overtrained. People will point to Cain's pace and that may be true but the pace isn't gonna gas you 2 minutes in.

he didn't overtrain, he was punched in the face over and over again. there's no training to make your face invincible to punches. glad it went the full 5 rounds, jds went out standing.

What the hell are you talking about man.

How do you know what he thought and what was going on inside his head.

You could clearly see the guy was gassed before the punch landed. (Whether it was pace or anything else that's irrelevant) Go back and watch it. He disrespected nothing.
