He is even better than that. JDS has a granite chin, black belt in BJJ, and has better footwork.

I agree, Chuck is my favorite fighter ever, JDS is one of my favorite current fighters. JDS has better boxing & is slightly better P4P.

    Chuck was the man.
Not the same after second ramage fight, but used to have a chin of granite.
Same may happen to JDS one day....although that hasn't happened yet

The basics in their fighting style are the same, but I've never seen much of a resemblance. JDS is a boxer, Chuck a kickboxer/kenpo guy with good hands

That ear precisely dictates the aerodynamic flow to make his left hook deadly. :D

Much better boxing, doesn't eat one punch to hit one punch.

He's better... not just because he has a granite chin (Something Chuck once had) but better footwork and defences. Doesn't get hit anything like as much

Agred. also, Chuck was not a boxer, he was a karate guy at his roots. And beyond that, the level of training for a guy like JDS now is so far beyond what it was even in the mid 2000's. The level of professionalism and specialization now is amazing, I mean chuck was training with a karate instructor in a beach town in central California. Hackleman obviously helped Chuck a lot, and I mean no disrespect, but guys now are training with world class boxers. chuck came up in an era where guys had jobs beyond fighting, and he is one of the big reasons why guys now don't have to work other jobs. imagine if Chuck would have come up in the current era with his physical gifts along with his desire to be all that he could be with all that modern fighters have at their disposal. chuck would have been great in any era.

There are two versions of Chuck Liddell, young chuck and old chuck.

Young Chuck was a better striker then JDS, he kickboxed and striked very well. What people forget was how good a kickboxer Chuck use to be when he was young and that version of Chuck was a better striker then JDS and he use to be fast.

As he got older, he just relied on his boxing but young chuck was a better striker then JDS now. Chuck use to be a very good kickboxer, I dont know why he threw his kickboxing game away.

He's not a boxer, but a quick look at his record shows 10 of his 13 finishes by strikes came via punches.
Chuck SWUNG. That's why people liked him. He was able to sit into punches and hit with decent power.

But yeah, JDS has a strong boxing past. He travelled around boxing gyms in central america training and learning, and of course boxing still has a strong tradition in these areas. JDS, unlike Chuck MOVES. He dances like all the great boxers from mexico and panama and cuba etc.

Yeah, it would have been interesting to have seen chuck use some kicks against Rampage in either fight. Dana's whining about it in the pride fight has some merit in particular.

yeah, and that became his problem, he was only throwing punches when he wasn't a boxer with solid defense. Winklejon saw that and helped Rashad prepare to land the most devastating punch I have ever seen.
