I think if he just got TKO'd after being dropped by the big right hand it would have been better for him and people's views on a rematch. He was just destroyed for an entire 5 rounds...Props to Cain, I really don't see anyone beating him when he's at his best.
No it showed that he has heart and is a true champion. He stuck in there as long as he could without giving up. Dude is an animal, after that beating Cain put on him I thought he was gonna go out but he kept coming back for more. If anything him sticking in there shows how strong he is.
I think it says a lot about many things: JDS's chin is amazing. Cain's power is fairly lackluster. To his credit, Cain's cardio is as good as they say.
The dude came out with the Rocky theme just like Fabio Maldonado before his massacre against Glover Teixeira. So much respect for both
JDS should have pounced on any of the several failed takedown attempts from Cain in r1. He just kept walking away as if victory on the feet was assured.
I personally thought the heart displayed by JDS was the most impressive part of the fight. He definitely earned my respect. Then there's Cain, a guy I liked up until he shoved Dos Santos and tried to look mean at the end of the first; certainly lost my respect after that.
Thought he was done after eating the headkick by Cain in the 5th lol, the guy didnt even budge...No one can ever question his heart....Thats set in stone.
Cain lost and came back like a true champ. Let's see if JDS can do the same. It's not exactly the first time his cardio has been called into question. He was fading pretty badly in the Carwin and Nelson fights too. Maybe this is the wake up call he needed to train cardio like a mad man. Absolutely ZERO doubt about his chin and heart after tonight though. Holy shit.
How? You mean throw haymaker shots downward to Cain's head?. It was have been awkward position, and not as effective, but yea, if had actual kicks in his arsenal he could have caught Cain flush on the jaw with a timed head kick.
