I was watching the aussie ufc yesterday and this info caught my attention.

It's a given that JDS TDD is really solid but that is really impressive.

Also,it said his time spent on his back is the second lowest in ufc history.I tried to find who is the first, along with some more details about how these stats were measured, but couldnt find anything.

If someone knows something about it,please share.

Probably Jones, the only time he was on his back was when he pulled guard against Shad. Can't remember for how long though.

Maybe Jones, he also pull guard against Rampage, briefly at the end of the fight I think. But I doubt that counts towards TDD as it was his intention to go to the ground on his back. So maybe Jones.

    He is Boss.

Forces people to play his game and from there it's just a matter of time before he makes them quit.

    I thought about it too.

But what about someone like Ryan Jimmo,he's never been one second on his back in the UFC .

Without knowing how this info is researched its just another product of the ufc hype machine, rightfully hyped this time though.

His opponents are usually the ones on their backs, can't see that trend changing anytime soon either.

I believe JBJ has th UFC record, I am not 100 % sure but JBJ is still the only fighter not to be taken down, so that would mean 0 time on his back. Mind you he did pull guard at the end of one round for some stupid reason.

We honestly haven't really seen his takedown defense tested all that much, do to his hand speed and one punch power. We've never seen him have to stop a high level wrestler from chaining takedown attempts together, so I don't think we can really say how good his taekdown defense is.

Lots of fighters have zero time on their back in the UFC.

    Still impressive though

I get where ur coming from but i believe TDD has a great deal of its effectiveness due to the proper control of distance.

We wont see a high level wrestler or any other fighter chaining takedowns at JDS cause they feel very unconfortable doing so.Hell, who whouldnt? The guy is a heavyweight that you gotta put on slow motion mode to actually see his punches being thrown.

Hit the nail right on the head. That's exactly what I was trying to say. He keeps people aways from his legs because they know they have to get inside to do it, and they don't want to eat shots coming in. Even when they do take a shot, they don't commit because they don't want to eat an uppercut coming in or somthing else that can put your lights out. The guy is a flat out stud.

wait what? the issue is closing distance, not chaining takedowns.

Jones has never been taken down, but pulled guard against Rashad with 10 seconds left, attempted a flying triangle on Rampage and botched a throw on Gusmao iirc. I'm not sure if that adds up to over 12 or not though.

    Tell that to Matt Wiman.

Junior's never faced an elite wrestler, except for Cain, but he didn't have the chance to look for a takedown.

Jones has never been taken down period. Changing it to an abstract argument of 'less time on the back' doesn't negate that Jones is the only one in the UFC to never be put on his back by another fighter. That's far more impressive.
