Real stats:

Remember: The live striking statistics are not always (and almost never are) accurate!

There were a lot of close rounds, but the cleaner and more effective striking was coming from Jack throughout. It kind of reminded me of the second Usyk and Fury fight in that regard.

Going into the fifth I had given Belal one round but wondered if the judges might have given Belal two, which would have been generous but not totally outrageous.

In the fifth round Jack clearly and demonstrably took the title, by refusing to be controlled then obliterating Belal's face. In no way whatsoever was the win controversial.

No, I just hate people getting undeserved title fights. If we're going by stats, he should have lost to Holland. If we're going by Pride rules, he should have lost to Basil.
He will be one and done, just like Belal.

Belal got lucky that he got Leon, JDM got lucky that he got Belal.

The thing is Belal grinded his way up the ladder so his title fight (and rematch) with Edwards was long overdue, unlike JDM the 2021 DWCS graduate who arguably lost to 2 jobbers in a row before getting a come-from-behind win against #6 Burns over a year ago then taking 14 months off.

I hear you and understand what your point is.
I just think Jack doesn't deserve the hate because he doesn't book the fights. I've never heard him say he was next in line.
And if we're talking about illegitimate title fights in the WW division, Leon and Belal are the only ones who have deserved a title shot in recent years. Colby? A joke. Masvidal? Just another name that makes more money than legitimate contenders.
For my part, I'm glad we have another title holder again, whether deserved or not is a minor issue.
And if Belal had fought Shavkat, we'd be happy to have a legitimate title contender and new holder.
But I hope that's only a matter of time.

Shavkat, the real #1 contender, is injured and will get his shot the moment he is rehabilitated. Garry just had a fight where he was crawling ass up at the end and lucky Prates' controller disconnected.

Who should have fought Belal instead of JDM?

Belal got his title shot by beating Burns literally immediately before fighting Leon.

Colby fucking had a title fight right before Belal. Get real about this "deserved" shit.

He deserved the title because he beat Belal's face bloody to take it.

This, we're talking about a division where the #3 OAT had 40% of his title reign consist of colby and 40% consist of Masvidal. Bozos here believed the guy footstomping journeymen against the cage rivaled GSP <lol>

I sorta get being irritated by “undeserved” title shots. But if the guy comes in a makes the most of the opportunity and wins the belt, then they clearly deserved to be there.

Janitor Jack's face looked like it was beaten to a pulp after the fight was over. He'll probably need 7 months to recover.
Belal will literally wear a reminder of Jack on his face and feel his eye socket throb for a decade every time the air pressure changes around him.

Jack did an interview instead of going to the hospital, guy has a mouse on his eye.
If you think this is serious damage you're a pussy.

Nice try. Boxcar Jack's face looked worse than Belal's when they were reading the scorecards:

Seriously, this fucking hamburger head literally got his face rearranged (again). He's going to need a toilet snake shoved up his nose to breathe normally again.

Dude he clearly beat Holland, it being a split decision was stupid. Shavkat was out, Ian didn’t deserve it and Jack has been undefeated in the UFC and had just beaten burns. Seems pretty deserving to me.

I must say it annoys me how people shit on the UFC stats when it doesn't support their point of view. There's a few people on these forums I'm tracking that will reference these stats when it supports their argument, and then say UFC stats are garbage when they don't like what it tells them.

I've always found them to be pretty accurate, even when it tells me I'm wrong.

There are times when it doesn't account for everything, like DDP vs Strickland 1, where Strickland was taking massive damage that wasn't exactly obvious from the stats. But most of the time UFC stats (formerly FightMetric I believe?) predicts the correct winner.

Fight was close but I thought Jack was one step ahead most of the time.

Both guys landed a lot
