'Mendez said Nurmagomedov, who has two boys and a girl, has been away from his family a great deal. Mendez told Yahoo Sports that Nurmagomedov simply wants to spend time with his his family.

He just doesn’t want to miss being a father,” Mendez told Yahoo Sports. “He talked to me about three weeks ago and told me of his plan and said he planned to talk to the team and inform them of his decision. He’s doing this for the right reasons. He’s a family man and he simply wants to spend more time with his family."

“..Khabib learned so much from his father [Abdulmanap, who died in 2020] and from me and some of the other great coaches he worked with, and his guys have learned so much from him,” Mendez said. “He instilled the things he learned from his father in the new generation and you can see the impact.

“..Is he going to be missed? Absolutely. Will it negatively affect the team? That remains to be seen, but given what a great job he’s done coaching his cousins and the others on the team, I think they’re ready to move forward and continue his legacy.”'

Is that effective immediately? Would've thought he'd stick around for Islams fight against Volk.
Seems to be the case. There is always going to be another fight he'd want to stick around for, after Islam's bout it would be Umar's, or Usman's , or Abubakar's, or someone else on the team that he is close to.

I think it's just something he decided, I think he'll still corner the people in his close circle. I have a feeling he'll be there for Islam's fight.

I'm glad. I didn't even know he had 3 kids. I remember when he retired from fighting, he said he wanted to spend more time with his mother; I thought that was a good enough reason to disappear.

I hope he comes back from time to time, or maybe even permanently (as a coach or promoter or whatever) down the line, but I want Khabib to be the family man I expect him to be. Somebody's gotta ref the bear fights.

Beautiful human being, nothing but love and respect for him

I can relate, I waited until the end of my Military career to have kids.

Not a fan of his fight style but you have to respect that decision, The circus outside of the cage he didn't seem to enjoy it much and doesn't seem to like the fame that is associated with it so not much of a shock to hear this.

He achieved what he wanted and left.

He can still corner dudes. And he can take his kids to some fights etc

You missed the point of his retirement. He doesnt want to have to travel with his kids from hotels to hotels. He wants to be at home with them, where his family should be. He doesnt want to have to dedicate his time to coaching, weight cutting, making game plans. He's done with all that.

Yeah if he's completely done then so be it. It's pretty vague though if he actually is COMPLETELY done or will corner/support his guys from time to time. Not a full time coaching thing. And tavelling can be fun sometimes.

That's what I meant. Time will tell
