Javier Mendez "me personally i would have preferred for him to not let it go three rounds... too many risks but he purposely let it go three rounds because he wanted to show that he can dominate a striker for three rounds. I rather prefered to take him on the first like he could have so."

Javier Mendez "Khabib allowed Edson to sustain again".

Luke Thomas "if you had your way coach... what would be next for him Tony or Conor?"

Javier Mendez "for me Tony.. because to me Tony is the guy that`s been fighting. To me he is the legit lightweight champion because he`s you know he`s fighting. Conor made just one pit stop and hasn`t defended it. Conor is the big whale everybody wants Conor and can`t blame anybody.. hell you know who doesn`t want to get paid ten times the amount of money to fight someone like him... but number one importand for Khabib is winning that belt."

"as you saw he can take shots it`s not like he`s got a weak chin. very strong mentally very strong bodily he could take a shot so it`s not a one-shot thing. you hit im with a good shot he must get pissed off beat u up worse for it"

i can make more cliffs later.

cliff - Khabib dominated Edson.

This “could have finished him” is not only complete bollocks, it’s really insulting to Barboza who did a great job in riding out a terrible beating.

How dare him or his camp come out and go “i could have finished him at any time”, fucking disrespectful and factually incorrect.

Yeah that tracks about right. I agree with his coach despite loving Khabib's display. If you can end it then end it. Needing more ring time is a good reason to drag things out but it's risky and kinda shitty since you're letting the other guy sustain unnecessary damage.

Its not factually incorrect or disrespectful. Its pretty clear khabib stood up way longer than he had to.

It's by no means "factually incorrect". It's honest and kinda fucked up to say but not wrong.

Khabib had many openings for submissions that he blatantly ignored. He clearly slowed his pace at times when he didn't need to. Also he clearly stated several times before the fight that he would try to go all 3 rounds. There was no guarantee that he would have finished Edson but he blatantly did not look for the finish.

Disrespectful? Yeah. "Factually wrong"? Absolutely not.

I tend not to believe this type of talk. Nothing could ever convince me that he wasn't trying to finish him 100%. Not Khabib, not Javier, not even if Barboza told me himself.

Its not disrespectful either. He wasnt trying to embarass barboza. Its just a fact that he wanted to test his standup skills.

Mendez even said, khabib stood too long against mj

Post fight interview Kahbib said he tried to finish him and couldn't

I agree but I can understand why some would be offended.

Khabib really respects Edson and has said nothing but good about him. The man just speaks his mind. Some people just don't like what he says.

He said he tried at points. That's different. He made a few attempts in the first and couldn't then visibly slowed pace to drag it out. In that same interview he said he wanted to go all 3 rounds.

Yes but thats their personal feelings getting in the way,but its the nature of the fight game. Most of khabibs statements were answering questions posed to him,and he said what he believes. Hard to soften the blow of a total domination so why try?

So yeah, like I said, he tried and couldn't haha

100% agree. Just trying to be neutral.

man i just got done brushing my teeth, that toothpaste tastes like ass

Either you're being simple or being childish. Going for an attempt or two in the 1st round then explicitly ignoring the next 50 openings is not the same as trying to finish someone for 15 minutes and failing. Stop trying to equate them.

Khabib made a conscious effort to drag the fight on 3 rounds. That is true.

Yeah sure, okay buddy. How about neither if us know what he actually tried to do and everything after the fight is just talk.

Didn't Khabib say BEFORE the fight he wanted to take the fight the distance so he could shake off all ring rust?
