I was watching UFC Unleashed and I saw Jason Von Flue finish his opponent with a technique I've never seen before, and apparantly, neither had anyone else. Even Couture was heard saying that "it was weird". Joe Rogan didn't know what to call as well and just labeled it a side choke. Had anyone seen the technique before Jason used it or was that the first time people have seen that move before?

Fuck....I really hope this doesn't turn into "The Anaconda Choke" v2.0.

It's not really a choke, and 99% of the time it's not going to work. It was just basic head control, but for some reason he had the angle to turn it into a choke. It's also easy to escape, especially no gi (which makes me wonder why Karalexis sat there like a gimp). In short, don't bother trying it yourself, it will fail.....Eddie Bravo would have an easier time beating Ryler again than you'll have choking someone with that.

is this the dig your shoulder into their jaw side control choke? I've caught some really new guys with it, but anyone whos trained for a while - not a chance. :\

karalexis was just really tired, thats why he was caught.

That's pretty much what I thought. It was just the right move at the right time.

And I wasn't thinking of doing it myself since I don't even train in MMA.

Just curious.

Yes it is a real choke and it is pretty hard to escape once sunk. Nobody good will hold onto a guillotine that long once you've passed to the other side so it is pretty hard to set up.
