I can't understand why UFC didn't complete UFC 174 card more early.

Jason Saggo is 28, with a 9-1 pro record (9 finishes, 8 by submission). Saggo's only loss in his career thus far is to current UFC fighter Jesse Ronson in 2011, and has no notable wins on his resume. Saggo trains at Wulfrun MMA, a small camp.

Know the name, never seen him fight.
Smacks of the UFC needing to fill a few prelim spots, as an earlier poster stated, expect to see Saggo fight another newcomer (think Cedeno vs. Chavez at UFC 170) to open the Fight Pass section of the card.

I know him. Trained with him back in the day when he first started.

    He's legit.

He submitted all 10 of his opponents winning the Gold in the Pan Asian International Grappling Tournament, 2008. He's had a few muay thai fights in Thailand, where he trained for a while.

Fun fact: while at an MMA event in Ireland, one of the fighters pulled out moments before his fight. Jason volunteered from the audience to replace the guy, and won.
