An alright card tonight on ESPN2 from Rhode Island, so really, it can't be completely bad? Sure Mesi was supposed to headline this card, but he pulled out due to a "shoulder" injury. I question the shoulder excuse as a week later he announced that he plans to run for state senate. What after all of this and fighting to clear your name you are going to quit boxing? Quite strange.

Anyways in the new main event we have fat former Olympian Jason Estrada facing a guy who is 8 inches taller yet somehow the same weight in the ever inconsistant Whitiker. This is the same guy who changed his name from Lance to Goofi, but is going by Lance again. Estrada has some nice footwork and does decent inside work but he has no power. Think eddie chambers with 20 extra pounds to slow him down.

The real draw tonight is former am champ Aaron Williams against former heavyweight Andre Purlette. Williams is only 21, but 16-0 with 11 big knock outs, last year on ESPN2 he had a highlight KO, but he has a big test ahead of him. View his great KO here http://youtube.com/watch?v=iwkJypZ2ft0 Purlette has been around he's 40-2 with 35KOs, and while he has never been able to get over the hump he does provide lots of power especially at cruiser, the winner should jump into the top 20 and sets himself up nicely for a top 10 fight this year.

Fights start at 9, enjoy.

WAR AARON!

He's a good kid, and been sparring with Dokiwari a lot to train for this (among others) Says he plans to box the Hell out of Purlette.

Should be a pretty good card. I'll be interested to see how Williams fares in his step up in competition......

I liked Dokiwari, how come he hasn't fought in a while?

Esh, that's a touchy subject. And one I'd rather not get into detail about here because of the nature of things that went down which are still fresh.

To put it simply, he's holding out for something that IMO he really shouldn't be holding out for when he can go the way of Briggs, knock out every bum in the Mid and Southwest, and be right at the top of the food chain.

Next time you see me on AIM, though, I'll give more details there.

What is he holding out for? I remember when he lost to Guinn right before Guinn lost to everybody and their momma. What's changed that he feels he can hold out for anything?

Understandable, I'm sure a ton of promoters have ripped him off and now he wants his. The problem is that DD is not much of a draw, though he looks how a heavyweight should look. Mean and completely jacked. I wish him the best, hope he can figure some things out and start to box again.

Fights start now, I'm going out, but will catch the replay.

War WILLIAMS!!!!111111111

There's a great fight on Solo Boxeo between Jesus Chavez and one of my favorite fighters, Daniel Jimenez.

Cripple Chavez is still fighting? Holy 1998.

If you could, please post how that fight goes. It sounds pretty good.

Kist got done watching the card. Anybody else out there see it and want to share their thoughts?

Since I have the double yellow, I can't edit my posts. I meant to say, "Just got done watching..."

TKO 2 for Williams
SD for Spina, easily could've gone the other way
UD for Estrada, no doubt about this one

I thought Williams looked really impressive against Purlett. I had Spina winning by 1 point, but he has a lot of work to do to get back on a big stage. Estrada looked pretty good with his punches in bunches. I had it 98-92, but man, he's not going to get anybody out of there, is he?

KK...i didn't watch as i was forced to watch the warriors game with co-workers...DID EDDIE WEAR THE SHIRT?

Yeah, Thudd posted in the thread about it.

yea...just read it. Good to see Aaron donate. I'm going to record it at midnight and check it out tomorrow am.

glad he wore the shirt. Thudd's work deserves it.

I think it comes on again at 1:30 a.m. eastern.....not sure about it if you're on the west coast.

I really liked Aaron Williams footworks. He did a great job keeping his distance and then unloading with his lightning fast hands. Plus, Aaron has the power to finish fights, you know that ESPN2 is dying to get him back, hopefully we'll see him fight soon.

As for Estrada, well he did what he needed to do, at times he landed some nice inside combos, but he still is feather fisted and is still too fat. He needs to fight every 2 months, none of this every 4 months bullshit. It is sad to say that Estrada is one of the America's top heavyweight prospects but such are the times.
