Wow. They gave Cannonier a pretty huge leap in competition after a not that impressive performance against Cutelaba. He only has one win at LHW and its not even against a top 15.

Cirkunov vs Teixeira would have been a far better fight to make. The #3 versus the #8, and Cirkunov coming off three impressive wins, including a far more impressive victory over Cutelaba.

I have no idea what the hell UFC matchmakers are thinking anymore. JDS vs Struve is even worse.

Agreed. I thought it was a giant leap myself especially considering Misha probably could have taken the fight too. Struve has looked good as of late but this is a horrific match up for him....again

This guy, Jared is such a racist against black people, you can't call black people Gorrilas.

Glover should have got Manuwa, Gus or Cirkunov or at least someone like Bosse

Damn, this is a huge step up but I kind of like it. The part of Pride that my fanboy ass misses is that sometimes you had complete nobodies taking on established superstars and that the nobodies sometimes fucking won! Nothing against Glover and I think he will tool Jared but part of me really wants Jared to win this in shocking fashion.

    You guys are thinking too
    short term. These fighters coming
off huge KOs, especially the vets
like Glover, you gotta throw em a
    bone in moments like these.

    I think it's a good fight. Glover
should be able to find enough his
    chin & test his will.

I agree, they should be thrown a bone...... but not the #3 guy against someone who isn't even ranked. They should have given him a guy at least in the 9-15 range. If Glover loses, all of a sudden he's not even top 15 anymore? Like hell lol

If you are going to give him an unranked guy like this, at least give him a showcase, not one of the better prospects in the division. Besides, Cannonier showed he is not ready to be in the top 5 of the division at all yet. Getting such a big jump in competition after such a lackluster debut win at LHW for Cannonier is pretty silly.

    Getting caught by Johnson
    literally says nothing towards
your skill or capability. So moving
    forward, being matched against
a fellow brawler with clear paths
to victory against, only helps Glover.

If Jared wins, then it's huge for him.
& The division is so thin, Teixiera
    wouldn't be going anywhere. He's
    still a co-headline Brazil card-worthy
    fighter.

Is Shogun ever going to fight again? He would've made a lot more sense too.

I don't see how it makes sense for Glover at all. He's #3 ranked, he's one or possibly two wins away from a title shot if he fights top ranked opponents, plus he's a fresh match-up for Cormier if he's victorious against Rumble. This fight does nothing to move him closer to the title shot. Its all risk and no reward. The only thing I can think of is that he wants a tune-up match and thinks that he'll walk through Cannonier pretty easily.... which is probably what will happen anyway.

Glover vs Gus for the next title shot should have been the fight to make. Or even against Manuwa.

    Gusto goes to war, dude.
    & Glover needs some slower
    punches being slugged at him
    than Manuwa's meat fists.

Give ol' boy a break bro

Definitely not the fight I expected or would have chosen for Glover Teixeira. Cannonier had a decent win over Cutelaba but nothing to write home about. So definitely expect this to be a straight forward win for Glover. Personally would have preferred him vs Manuwa or even Corey Anderson.
