Japanese PM labelled most dangerous person in Asia

Abe's book is called 日本を取り戻す, basically "Take back Japan". This guy is just typical of most post war Japanese leaders: completely clueless about the outside world and unwilling to make the necessary changes to Japan's economy to adapt to the globalized market. Simply exporting more Toyotas isn't going to lead to a better economy.

Japanese may be dicks but they're not invading anyone anymore. The superiority complex among Japanese is still prevalent but contemporary Japan is relatively harmless to most of their Asian neighbours. It's China's superiority complex combined with expansionist policies that is far more worrisome today.

Yup.This is the difference between Japan and China.

The underlying cause for all these beef is simple. It's a competition for resources, strategic buffer zone and regional leadership. For centuries China was the top dog in Asia, but lost that status in the 18th century and got its ass kicked by Europeans/Japan. That created some grudge. Of course, it didn't help that Japan went batshit crazy invading neighbors during WWII, and still occasionally trolls China on lingering issues from that. Japan had been the strongest economy in Asia for nearly a century, before being surpassed a few years back. China wants its boss status back, but a different geopolitical order in Asia had already been established since China lost its influence. To regain their position, China would have to challenge US and its allies in the Pacific.

You see this trend whenever a new power rise to challenge the existing order. Sometimes they are successful, but other times not.
