He's also had 6 more fights than JDS.
In KSW he relied much heavier on his grappling. His striking developed much later.
Most of his winning streaks were related to getting the fight to the ground, so he absorbed much less strikes to the head
Jans chin and mind are still in tact.
JDS's chin got shattered into a thousand pieces a decade ago.
At this point all that remains is fractions of dust.
Not just a chin...speed, too.
Overall wear and tear from the beatings.
Actually, it was Velasquez who made the first break.
Almost like humans aren't clones.
I think speed, awareness, and all of a fighters faculties are diminished severely after they take savage cerebral beatings. They are never the same. JDS has taken way too many.
Jan also didnt have to face prime Cain twice.
Jan has way better striking defense than JDS. JDS relied heavily on his chin early on, which shortened his career. JDS still looks very good offensively - he is fast, sharp, carries good power. But his chin is gone.
And also Jan's head is like a fridge. I guess that helps.
Jan didn't fight prime Cain Velasquez 3 times, Miocic twice, Mark Hunt, Overeem, Carwin, Lewis etc etc
Well, that's why stats are just stats, lol.
Anyway, JDS had been duking it out with the very best since his 7th fight.
And then those fights against Cain alone make him 54 years old.
well the man had like 3 fights of prime in him.
Whether you want to believe that or not, 2 of those fights were JDS's kryptonite.
Relying on your chin rarely works in the long term.
i did give u a like.
