Media James Vick at the Weigh Ins

He's not successful enough at 155 for that kind of stress on his body to be worth it.

There's no such thing as a "natural weight division" in a sport that allows extreme weight cutting. Your weight class in MMA is the one you can make.

Not every fighter is an extreme weight cutter. Those that are = shook to damn near death, hence why they'll cut until they resemble corpses in an attempt to gain an advantage and fight smaller comp.

The sport needs more Edgars, not more Vicks.

Dude is as tall as Luke Rockhold and taller than Weidman. he should fight at MW tbh. Why the fuck he keeps punishing himself at LW.
I think we all know why. Dude is average at LW he would get completely besmirched at a higher weightclass

It's pretty ludicrous to assume people who fight in a cage for a living are scared of fighting. The reason why some people cut as much as they can and some have given up on that is their body's performance. They need to make sure they have the best chances of winning their fights cause their pay depends on it.
If draining yourself means you'll not be in fighting shape the next day or you just realize your body performs better at a higher weight class, you're gonna leave it be. If you realize that the weight cut is worth it cause the lowest weight class you can get to is the one where you do best, obviously you're gonna keep cutting.

Especially when you keep in mind that if you refuse to do so cause of some silly interpretation of pride, you may be a guy who does best at lightweight fighting someone who's great at cutting weight at welterweight who comes into the cage Saturday weighing 185 pounds and is still fresh as a daisy. We've seen multiple examples for all scenarios.

I agree with everyone who wants to ban extreme weight cutting for all though.

Why even punish yourself that hard when LW is more stacked than WW?

Your first sentence is a lame strawman. They're not scared of fighting per se, it's fighting other professionals that they don't have a size advantage over that has got them shook.

It is nice to see that someone gets it. So much nonsense in this thread lol

Way too tall for LW, should go the Chiesa route before its too late

Length advantage in terms of height and reach maybe, size advantage is unlikely since most fighters cut weight so that's usually equalized.

And you only replied to one sentence of my entire comment. Not a good argument for you

Vick has a huge frame, kinda like Chiesa. If those boys went on a Rumble diet they'd be 205er's in about 2-3 years.

Some people struggle to understand that fighters are people too and even they can be scared
