Heavyweight James Thompson had to pull out of his Bellator 129 fight with Houston Alexander due to an injury, according to Bellator officials.

The heavyweight bout was scheduled to be one of the main card bouts for the Oct. 17 show at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Bellator is now looking for a late replacement to stand in against the Nebraska native, Alexander.

The 35-year old Thompson was looking to extend his unbeaten streak to seven fights against Alexander, and is coming off a successful debut in Bellator with a win over Eric Prindle in June. Alexander, 42, has won three of his last four fights, including his last one at Bellator 117 against Matt Uhde.

Bellator 129 will feature a welterweight bout between MMA veterans Josh Neer and Paul Bradley in the main event.

One of the worst cards ever.

Maybe they try to make the most epic rematch in mma history and try and get Kimbo/houston 2.

Damn!

But lol at the venue. Council Bluffs Iowa? Is that a remenant of the Bjorn era or did Scotty really decide to put on a show out there?

They've made multiple late changes to cards recently, and that's what they should do with this one to save some face. They desperately need to.

As is, I'd really prefer for their sake that this card wasn't televised altogether. Make it a Spike.com special for the "hardcores". This is a bad look for them publicly if this dreck is broadcasted. They're just throwing an event away, but knowing them they'll try to squeeze every advertising dollar out of it they can in the interim with no eye on long-term interests.

Time to call up Manny Lara.

noooooooo. but on the bright side josh applet has been BEGGING for a fight so they might as well throw him in there. would be a decent striking battle

Just checked out the card as it stands right now.

WOW.

I consider myself to be a BellatorStanatic, but this shit doesn't appeal to me at all, and most certainly does not belong on prime time cable.

This will be the low point in Bellator history show wise. But they filled out the season well. No stand out shows but really besides this one, no bad ones.

No, no, no, no....
Sad days for the Colossus fans :(
Some guy predicted this in the announcement thread... nice job jixing it ^^
But seriously, I'm pissed of.
The only fight that interested me on this card... Oh well, I'll rewatch some freakshows to ease the pain...

Can't they call up Ambriz or someone similar?

I wanna see Houston stand and trade, dammit!

I thought you guys were being melodramatic about the card line up... until I went to check it out. Wow. That's terrible.

Put Soko or Sandman in there with Houston.

Either rematch could save the card.

not a single good fight, big name or big prospect on the card. its like a TUF China card minus the great main event and co main event.

Gave up Alvarez and Riggs

Didnt get to show Rampage, Lima, Minakov, and some other notable fighters...

All things considered, Coker didnt do terrible being thrown a weekly format with no tournaments...

For all of you who thought that Coker would have any authority over Bellator with Viacom in the picture, here's your answer.

THese shows were planned already, next year is when the new Bellator starts.

I think they brought in Coker to run it like SF 2.0, Coker gives them a better public face for fans and fighters.

This would be a perfect chance to give Lavar Johnson a fight he should actually be in...wonder if he'd take the short notice call or is cleared to fight....
