He has done a lot of different types of roles throughout his career and he is amazing at whatever he does. I know most people probably know him from donnie darko or brokeback mountain. I found out about him around 2005 with jarhead a slow burn movie and Gyllenhaal is fantastic in it.

Other movies like Prisoners. Zodiac, Nightcrawler, Southpaw all good movies. Nightcrawler in particular I thought was his best work to date. He made me believe that he was really that crazy guy. Then he comes back and does southpaw and he makes me believe he is this really badass boxer. He can do any role he sets his mind to and knocks it out of the park everytime.

    Thoughts?

    Great actor for sure.

I'll just zero in on Prisoners for a moment. Awesome movie but particularly phenomenal performance from Jake. That nervous tick he had was such a cool idiosyncratic touch. Great character, great performance, great movie.

Jake is P4P #1, in my book. Nightcrawler, Donnie Darko, Jarheads, Love, and Other Drugs, Prisoners, Southpaw, End of Watch, Enemy. He's amazing, in all of these.

Watched Southpaw today, it was pretty good. Nightcrawler was an unexpected gem

Jake Gyllenhaal lacks charisma. He is not alone - Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and plenty others are worse than he is. Its too much about being good looking nowadays in acting. I'd rather watch Robert Duvall or Jack Nicholson, who probably wouldn't even make it big if they came from this generation because they were average looking

I'll readily admit I have a mancrush on Jake Gyllenhaal. I haven't seen him in anything that he wasn't good in. Obviously haven't seen Prince of Persia. Source Code rarely gets mentioned, but he was good in that too.

And he's smashed a lot of quality Hollywood poon, too.

His sister is Hollywood ugly. Shes like regular people average at best. Maybe he has something to do with her being on film

I like Gyllenhaal and all, but I think some posters might actually beat off to him.

I would have to agree. He has been in some great movies: October Sky, Zodiac, Source Code, End of Watch, Prisoners, and Nightcrawler. Donnie Darko has somewhat of a cult following, but I didn't enjoy it. His performance was great in it, as well as Southpaw which I didn't really like that much. Some nicely shot movie fights though.
