ellenbergermmaThank you everyone; I appreciate the words, I can’t even begin to articulate the emotions going through my head. Nebraska, the fans, my coaches - I love you. Massive thank you @danawhite - I appreciate you.

Feel bad for the bro. That was one of the most depressing ko into retirement moments I've seen.

Well, look on the bright side. Given the way MMA retirements go, he easily could've made a fight announcement or challenged someone.

In all seriousness, respect to him. It's not the same thing but I recently closed a business I ran for nearly 10 years. Change and transition are never an easy thing but I am quite certain I never put even half of what he did into MMA into my own business. Hope he finds his place post-MMA.

The wrestlers fall in love with the hands and forget what brought them to the dance sometimes.

I remember when he knocked out Shields, never thought his career was gonna turn out like this. Ellenberger was a beast at one time.

Lost the fight to Kampmann and then beat Nate but he was never the same after the Rory fight, don’t know what happened to him but that fight ruined his career.

Really hope he sticks with retirement. Don't want to see him in Bellator in six months

He had his run... Salute Jake!

It's time to move on and think about your health, focus on other things.

    I blame this guy...

Wish him well in retirement and hope he's managed his money properly so he doesn't have to return.

Met Jake at UFC 199 while waiting in line to get a drink. Nobody recognized him so I said what's up. This was right before his fight with Matt Brown. He was a super cool dude and I asked a few questions. Told him he was gonna finish Brown and he laughed and said he's going to do his best.

Was always a big fan since then.
    Thanks for the fights Juggernaut!

I doubt he will come back. Respect the man, but he received too much damage in recent years, its a right call to stop fighting to preserve his brain.

Retired at 33 yrs old, while Adesanya is just starting at the UFC at 30. You never know how life unfolds for these fighters

I'm glad he made the move to hang them up tonight. It's clearly the right thing to do. He gave everything he had to the game and is one of the most devastating punchers the division had ever seen in his prime
