What do you guys think?
I think he gets cut.
I would hope not, it's not far removed from his 8-1 run over Shields, Heiron, Marquardt, Pyle and Sanchez. he's an exciting fighter and I can't imagine him being that expensive.
probably one more fight. if he loses again then he will be cut.
wasn't he ranked in the top 5?
Dumb move if they do. It will only continue to make WSOF stronger. They're 170 division is getting deeper by the minute.
#5 guy, not too expensive, always good for a highlight reel knockout when he's not facing the upper echelon of guys. He'll stick around. I'd like to see him against Alves next.
Doubt it. You can't really justify putting him against top guys anymore though. Gatekeeper type guy now I guess...
Wtf. Is that even a question?
Not likely imo. Ellenberger is only on a two fight losing streak, both losses to top WWs. I missed tonight's fight but the majority of his UFC fights have ended in T/KO, also he isn't terribly expensive to keep around.
He wont be cut but i think his dream of ufc gold is all but over. Perhaps he can consider moving to lw? His twin brother Joe is fighting at lw so physically i think he could.
Wtf? Why? There are a whole lot of WW's worse than Jake Ellenberger.
This isn't like the Rory fight. Ellenberger was there to fight until the third round when he broke his hand swinging for the fences. Lawler was just a lot better and was punishing him hard every time he tried. He was being a little cautious but that is to be expected when you're getting beat up like that.
I don't think there is anyway he makes LW. Ellenberger may be short but he's still huge. I don't really know about Joe or how similar they are in size though.
He lost to a #2 ranked opponent in the division.
The UFC will give him another chance for redemption.
No, but he needs to take a big step back in competition.
This IMO beside the top 5 thing anymore.
Wouldn't surprise me due to the nature of his real losses, but he's not costing the UFC too much and looks awesome against 11-30.
the thing about the old days they the old days
Nah, but I'd give him like a Kyle Noke or someone on that level for his next couple of fights. I'd like to see him against Mike Pierce as well.
I hope not. I'm not a huge fan of Jake but he has the tools to be an elite fighter.
Losing to Rory and Lawler isn't grounds for being cut.
Some peopel think he runs hot and cold, on a good day one of the best, bad day slightly below elite.
