Jaime Munguia vs. Liam Smith on July 21 or 28 in California

Smart move. I never heard of munguia before his last fight but his performance made me take notice. Liam Smith was one of the guys I thought he should fight next. When you got a young hard punching destroyer type kid you want to keep him active and you want to put him in with guys that already fought a top guy. You want the hype train caused by big KOs to keep rolling and you want to provide fans and the fighters team with a point of comparison to those top guys. Smart matchmaking.

I didn't catch Munguia's fight there last week because I had to leave after the Loma fight but it sounds like he was really impressive. The division could use another quality guy since some have gone up or lost recently. Hopefully he wins and they start talking about him fighting Charlo or Hurd in the future.

He was, but it's tough to make too much of him beating a guy like Ali. Ali is an average sized WW and is glass chinned. He was tailor made for Munguia to look against. Still, he has a decent offensive skillset and he can punch. Smith isn't the type of guy to exploit any defensive weaknesses he might have, but should be able to force a fun fight.
