Seven Year Itch: Biggest gap between titles was shared by Robson Moura who won his 4th title in 2000 and his 5th in 2007 and by Gabriel Vella, who took his first in 2002 and his most recent in 2009 but last year Gabriel Moraes took his 2nd title in 2013, 9 years after his maiden black belt tile in 2004.
All your base are belong to us: In recent years we have grown accustomed to seeing Alliance take a number of the Black Belt Titles each year, but the most dominant performance was 2002 when Gracie Barra took 8 of the available 10 Gold.
Two’s company: Only two non-Brazilians have ever taken Black Belt Gold at the Mundials, former UFC Champion BJ Penn in 2000 and Rafael Lovato Jr in 2007 (a year he did the Grand Slam, winning all 4 IBJJF Majors).
