When he said he made a request to dana that he had to convince him of, i thought he was behind the scenes pushing for a dangerous contender like yoel. This is just ridiculous

great thread, thank you

Why? After his last fight Dana said he would probably be the alternate for Whittaker/Gastelum in case one of them had to pull out.

True.

But I think the location of that fight played a big part in Israel being the choice.

Isn't it crazy how these guys call themselves martial artists, then constantly talk about what they think they deserve?

this fight is more of a mismatch than Chuck/Tito 3

Delusional. Only way to a title-shot at MW is through Romero.
And lets be honest, we know how Israel vs Yoel goes.

But WME is probably gonna make it happen and gift him the TS.

{<jordan}

beating a 40+ year old ring rusted AS and thinking that’s something that warrants a TS ranks up there with Tito gloating about finally beating his arch-nemesis Chuck

romero as gate keeper of the division kills off to many contenders. hate to say it but its true man. Some fresh faces are going to have to skip over him. If they lose close fights to the champ, quick rebound fight against Romero with a win getting you another title shot. best way to play it out

If Romero beats everyone else in the division, why wouldn't we wanna see Romero vs Whittaker 3?
Many if not most people thought Romero won the second fight between them.

Israel should have to fight a top fight guy after he beats Silva before getting a title shot..That's crazy and it's crazy that Silva said he was told he gets a fucking title shot off a win over Israel.

2 things

1 silva beats adesanya , don't @ me
2 Yoel won the second Whittaker fight and should be champ, don't fucking @ me

I'm fine with him getting a title shot now. The championship belt means nothing to me, I just want to see the best fights.

Meh, a win over Silva would put him at 5-0 in the ufc.

Perhaps still lacking that one big win to put him in the title picture, but wouldn't be the most undeserved shot to be handed out, not even close.

It works out. Nobody wants to fight him since they are all close to a shot. He needs a big name or top 5 for a shot. Matching him with Paulo would be wasting it too early

That could be it or, out of the top 5, he's the most likely choice. Jacare is the only person people could make a case for, but Israel made a good counter to that in the fact that Jacare lost to both fighters in the Main Event.

Israel will be fresh blood taking on another relatively young fighter in Robert Whitaker making for a more exciting match up(assuming Gastelum doesn't 1 2 his chin off)

Dana's striking while the Iron's hot and I don't blame him in this sense. Israel will have questions to answer obviously with each fight, but with that said, every test he has faced so far, he's passed with flying colors.
